Hopefully Disaster: DOC . Other than that, nothing is announced to my knowledge.

That's because they treat game characters like actors, and they treat games like movies.
If a game does well, they work on ways to come out with a next one and they continue this until people stop buying it.
This is also why you have Mario showing up on 65000 different games. It's face recognition, and to many people, it's like a stamp of quality. If you hear that Jacki Chan is in a movie, or Micheal J Fox, or Arnold Schwarzenegger, or or any well known actor. It's not just a matter that you'll mindlessly watch anything that actor is in, but a matter that you have found that there is a certain level of quality that you will find in a movie that has that actor in it.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

Wii Music: i think wii music is gonna be absolutely awesome! imagine the co-op possibilities... log online, join an orchestra, play! i sure hope that's the idea of wii music. i'd be disappointed if otherwise.

the Wii is an epidemic.

Does anyone know how long before Pikmin and Animal Crossing were released that they were announced? And at what event?

Interesting post @ Grey Acumen.

I personally would like Nintendo to make a lot more games that are entirely new. Nintendo is known for innovation, it would be nice for them to come up with some innovative IPs. The last one I can remember off the top of my head was Pikmin. Didn't Nintendo once say that developers should take chances?

Wii Fit and Wii Music should be interesting.

I have no idea what the lapse of time is, but I would be pretty disappointed if Nintendo wasn't already pretty far along with development of Pikmin 3.  The game BEGS for wii controls.  I cannot wait.

I was gonna say project HAMMER
-but its cancelled :(

Geez, there are lots.

Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Endless Ocean, Brain Age, Nintendogs,Vision Training, Big Brain Academy, Disaster: DoC, and Battalion Wars, just to name a few. A few of these (Brain Age, Nintendogs, Wii Sports) are the most succesful new IPs in the last 3 years, from any developer. Let me repeat that: the 3 most succesful new IPs from any developer in the last 3 years are ALL made by Nintendo.

I think when most people say that Nintendo isn't making new IPs, they mean they aren't making new IPs that they happen to like, which is fine, but that wasn't the initial question :p

Disaster: Day of Crisis. Also, for the DS, ASH looks very promising.

Wii Fit and Wii Music are old IP. Namely, uh, the Wii brand. It's been around for about a year, maybe you've heard of it. Just because they have different gameplay doesn't necesarily make them new IP, unless Mario Party is a seperate IP.

But, as Bod pointed out, Nintendo are having huge success with new IP right now. And though Wii Fit isn't technically new IP, I think everyone will agree it is shaping up to be another revolutionary game like Brain Age, Nintendogs and Wii Sports.

Simply applying some new IP instead of old IP to revolutionary gameplay doesn't make it more revolutionary. You can't downgrade Nintendo because they've pushed great new concepts within existing brands like Mario, Wario, Zelda, Wii, etc.

Hopefully Nintendo will still have some new IP next year, though.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
