Forums - Gaming Discussion - What would "revived JRPGs" look like, besides larger sales numbers?

the problem is just the cultural gap between american and japanese developers. The story in jrpg are usually to melodramatic and the characters are whiny. Also the gameplay hasnt been innovative until recently with games like demon soulds. I love the Persona serious but i just imagine my friends playing it like they do with halo or assassins creed

You are kidding me right? Demon's Souls is straight up modified Monster Hunter. Persona is basically a JRPG Card Game but good due to the fact of endings and choices you can make.

JRPGs won 't be the same as they were Square-enix stated FF XV will differ even more than FF XIII differed FF XII. I  believe FF XV will revive the gerne

FF12 was bad, FF13 ranged between mediocrity and good, FF14 was the worst game of all time

I don't know what FF15 will be like, I doubt it will be very good

2011 will mark the ten year anniversary of the last time truly I enjoyed a new Final Fantasy game.  There's been a few decent entries since then but my mind hasn't been blown by Square in almost a decade.  A fucking decade.  I just depressed myself.

Its worse for me, its already been a decade. Not truly enjoyed a FF since FF9 (released in 2000)

The Stories and characters (for the most part) and environments... keep it Japanese

Everything else... has to change

Combat... I hate JRPG because of this and I'm definitely not alone but I think I've found a great comprimise!

You can move around and everything is happeing in Real-Time but at any time you can pop up a list of moves and it freezes the game so you can decide what moves to make.. just like Freedom Force.. here's a video as example...

This way it gives turn based gamers time to strategies and think through the combat like they like in turn based combat.

Next thing to improve is... don't make gay looking guys who are not gay... yes I'm serious... it pisses me off.

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.
