The whole "save the PS3" nonsense was started near the beginning of the generation by Sony fans that couldn't fathom a PS console not finishing first.  The PS3 isn't finishing first. So it can't be "saved."

@Darth Tigris

You have one of the best avatars on VGChartz.

Actually, I've seen it cut both ways. You have some PS3 owners who showed their insecurities by the initial low sales of the PS3 while you also have some of your non-PS3 owners who showed their insecurities by laughing at those same sales.  Sadly for now, some people cannot take the fact that the PS3 has been a success in regards to offering gamers plenty of quality software while still being backed by strong software support regardless of being in third place.  Unlike past 3rd place consoles, the PS3 is receiving software support as if it's a 1st place console like past generation 1st place consoles, and it's still a viable and growing option.  The PS3 cannot be "saved" because it doesn't need to be.  You cannot save something that's alive and kicking.  The PS3 is here to stay as I mentioned earlier, and it's here to do its job for gamers.  That's an awesome thing.  Truth.

Yep.  This.  It is amazing that the PS3, despite being in third place, is currently receiving the most third party support out of any console.  It was lacking it at the beginning when third parties had so much trouble figuring the architecture out and it was outpriced in the market.  But, now including all the exclusive third party support from Japanese devs - it arguably is recieving the best support.

I also think it's the best console to try non-mainstream ideas like Heavy Rain.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
