Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo's 2011 Wii line up

I know Nintendo don't show their hand very far in advance, and that the schedule for the second half of 2011 will feature games we won't hear anything about until E3, but what about before then?  If Zelda does slip to the end of 2011, the first half of the year is looking very threadbare in terms of Nintendo support - I can only think of games that have already been/are only (so far) due to be released in Japan.

Have I missed any?

Europe has Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Mario Sports Mix was announced for a February release in North America, probable that'll make it out in Europe too. You are right, though-at the minute the first half of 2011 looks quite bare for Wii exclusives. At one point I thought Zelda would release in June, like Galaxy 2 did this year, but I'm now thinking it'll release at the end of 2011.

I'm hoping Last Story and Xenoblade will make it out in addition to Kirby and Sports Mix in the next 6 months, but don't have high hopes. They may keep the Wii schedule clear of big releases to give 3DS room for a massive launch. We may know more after The Last Story conference that's on Monday, and after the Euro/NA 3DS announcements on Jan 19th.

Mario Sports Mix is gonne be big i guess....

as well as Zelda

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

So far it's Lost in Shadow, Mario Sports Mix and Conduit 2 as far as date confirmed exclusives and none of those are big.  Mario Sports should clear a million but the others will be lucky for a quarter of that.

I do think Nintendo wants to focus attention on 3DS this Spring but hopefully we'll get something more.  Frankly, If all they do is import The Last Story, Xenoblade, Dynamic Sword, Disaster:DoC and Another Code: R (and Fatal Frame 4?) I'll be quite happy for a long time.

It's also completely possible they'll do a surprise anouncement of a couple more AA titles very early in the year, perhaps during the 3DS launch.

I am talking about USA here:

Lost in Shadows in January

Mario Sports Mix in February

Conduit 2 in February

March nothing for evident reasons (3DS)

April maybe Rhythm Heaven

May maybe Xenoblade or Legend of Zelda

June nothing

Anything beyond that its pure guessing but you can count with The Last Story, Fatal Frame (please), maybe Pkimin 3, and anything than Nintendo wants to confirm in the E3.

If they launch Xenoblade, The Last Story, Wii Vitality, Mario Sports Mix and Kirby, I think the first half of 2011 is pretty much full for Europe. Unfortunately the current problem is third parties, if they launched as many games as Nintendo no one could be disappointed.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

2011 is perhaps the emptiest year yet for the Wii so far. I'm worried about them only focusing on the system during holidays and then there's a 10 month drought in between. Last year at least we had the confirmation of several titles, this year it's just Sports Mix and a couple of insignificant 3rd party games, most of which will never leave Japan and are also small to even make an impact.

Can anyone make a list of games that will arrive in 2011 or afterwards? Here I have a Japanese publishers one, someone might want to add the Western games.

3rd Parties

  • Dragon Quest X (Square-Enix) (2012 at the earliest, may not come to the West until 2013)
  • Inazuma Eleven Strikers (Level 5) (Probably not coming to the West)
  • Samurai Warriors 3 Xtreme Legends (Tecmo-Koei) (Probably not coming to the West, multiplat with the PS3)
  • Earth Seeker (Kadokawa Shoten) (Probably not coming to the West)
  • SD Gundam G: Generation World (Namco-Bandai) (Not coming to the West, multiplat with the PSP)
  • Rune Factory Oceans (Marvelous) (Might be coming to the West, multiplat with the PS3)
  • Night of the Sacrifice (Marvelous) (May be coming to the West)
  • Winning Eleven 2012 (Konami) (Coming, multiplatform)
  • The Conduit 2 (Sega) (Coming)
  • Captain America: Super Soldier (Sega) (Coming, multiplatform)
  • Deca Sports 4 (Hudson) (Coming)
  • Write! Move! Catch! Teacher Wii (Not coming to the West)
  • Billy's Boot Camp: Enjoy Diet on Wii! (Rocket Company) (Not coming to the West)

1st Party

  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Coming)
  • Mario Sports Mix (Coming)
  • The Last Story (May come, unconfirmed)
  • Xenoblade (Chances are it's not coming going by Monolith Softs previous games)
  • Fatal Frame Remake (Probably not coming)
  • Rythm Heaven Wii (May or may not come, doesn't look like a game NoA will localize for the Wii)

And that's it, there's only 6 confirmed games that will be making it to the West next year by Japanese publishers, anyone got the Western data?

In terms of Nintendo games, I don't think anyone has mentioned any yet that don't fit into this category (e.g. Mario Sports Mix has already been released in Japan).

Pikmin 3 will make the year great.

I agree Mario Sports Mix and Pikmin 3 alone will make 2011 great!
