Forums - Sales Discussion - Next year could we see Wii>DS>3DS>360=PS3>PSP>PSP2>PS2?

3DS>Wii>DS>Xbox360>PS3>PSP2>PSP Holidays, but whole year: 3DS>Wii (close call)>DS>Xbox360>PS3>PSP>PSP2(since rumor has it released fall and later.

I see PSP2 outselling the PSP if it comes out early enough in the year.....Overall, I don't see any of this being too far fetched. DS sales might slow down enough so Wii will pass it since the 3DS is coming out.

I don't think your prediction in your signature will happen.

We're currently at 77 titles at 1 million for the PS3.

Need For Speed is selling over 100k a week so it will hit 1 million either this week or next depending on if US gets a boost to 50k (i'm leaning more toward next weekend).
GTA: Episodes is selling at least 10k a week at its current rate (which with America added will put it at 980k). So in 2 weeks it'll hit 1 million.
Fifa World Cup is 15k away from 1 million and should come close to hitting 1 million but at the same time I doubt it will before the 1st.
BUT WWE Smackdown vs Raw is only 6k away which has been averaging 9k per week so next week it should hit 1 million.

Technically speaking, that would still make your prediction wrong as you didn't call the games right :) I have no doubt Need For Speed will do it, doubtful about the rest of them, maybe WWE Smackdown if what you're saying is true, but the rest will probably get there in January.

Oh I forgot to give my prediction:

3DS > DS = Wii = PS3 > X360 > PSP2 > PSP > Ps2

I agree. Wii will continue it's decline and PS3 has a huge line up to make 2011 peak.

Don't be a hater, btw, some of the predictions in your signature bother me.

Fifa might still make it, this is the first week I've started to doubt it. The rest definitely will. I only need 3 out of the 4 to make it and my prediction is right. I used to have a chart in my profile outlining the exact date they would hit the million mark but I took it out because it took up too much space. Might put it back in there since 3 of the 6 in my sig have already hit the million mark.

Also, keep in mind, data for the 1st won't be posted until a few days later but it is still data for 1/1/2011

Yeah, but you don't have WWE Smackdown in your signature though, so therefore, even if it does get to 80 million sellers, it won't be with the games you predicted, though all the games should get there eventually, I'll agree with that.

I don't know if the Wii will beat the DS next year. This year, the DS will sell 21-point-something and the Wii 18-point-something. The Wii is likely to see a small drop next year, to 14-18 million. Let's say 16 million for the ease of it.

Is that impossible for the DS? It's likely to see a price reduction at some point next year, so I'd definitely say that it isn't. It's also getting another main-line Pokemon game releasing for it, and that should help sustain its sales.

The GBA had one of its biggest years after the DS launched. I don't see why the DS shouldn't be able to do the same with the 3DS.

I'd also say it's unlikely that the 3DS will sell as much as the DS next year, though. It has some fierce competition from the DS.

Wii = DS > 3DS seems more likely to me. The rest of your prediction seems fine, though.

Are you sure? I see Wii being at about 19.5m and DS around 22m. A price cut and good software (Pokemon BW > all, but that's besides the point since there's been three main games and countless spinoffs on the DS already) are imminent for both consoles next year. Except Wii will get a lot more support and won't have a successor out. I really can't see DS doing very well next year, especially since most of what's known about on 3DS already shrieks "DS, but better".
