Forums - Sales Discussion - Can DC Universe Online be a PS3 system seller?

Doubt it.  If it sells well on anything, it would be the pc. You never know though; it's unlikely, but not impossible.

As a question about the preorder numbers, can they go down as well as up? Is VGChartz just being given the data on new preorders only, or are the figures net results of new preorders minus cancelled preorders?

I've seen a number of "I'm cancelling my preorder" about DCUO and I'm curious if the preorder chart reflects this.

No way.  Personally, assuming the reviews are good (haven't checked on any yet), I will be getting it for PC.  No way anyone converts or even buys a PS3 if they already have a computer that can handle the game.  Games like these are made for PCs, hence The Old Republic, World of Warcraft, etc.

BOOM!  FACE KICK!

If it sells 500k software it would be huge success.

I doubt it. It doesn't look that interesting TBH

I agree. It has gotten mostly negative comments from people playing the beta. There are some gamers who are enjoying it, but from what I heard, you can get to the highest level fairly quickly and there isn't enough content to keep you playing longer then 6 months. I'm not going to waste my money or time on it.

Let's not get so desperate for system sellers again that we give it to any game that comes out.

Make the first month free, market the hell out of it, and make that demo available to everyone (whose idea was it to make demos exclusive? That's like making a commercial that only plays for people who have HBO). This could be a lot of people's first taste of an MMORPG (and not a sissy/nerd fantasy MMORPG).  Word of mouth on something as familiar as the DC Universe combined with something as addictive as an MMO?  Could be huge.

NO,..One mmorpg DC comics $16.00 console pad = fail  ...

DCUO launched 14 Jan 2011 in Europe and it looks like day 1 sales are aboug 28k for the PS3. The US sales information will give a better picture since that will take into account a full launch week's worth of sales.

SOE keeps adding servers and claims DCUO sold out, but I'm wondering if this is because they didn't send out that many / server can't handle a particularly high population.

I would never buy a game that costs me $180 per yr.

But, thats just me...  To each their own I suppose.  Is this game a system seller...Not for me.
