The Witcher 2 Could Be The Hardest Game You'll Ever Play

Provided, that is, you decide to play the role-playing title on "insane" difficulty. Which gives you one life. For a game that could take anywhere from 30-60 hours to finish.

While this mode allows you to save your game, if you die, those saved games will be locked and you won't be able to load them again.

But will they be locked forever? Probably not. "Of course we plan to have a resurrection scroll, maybe DLC or something", says Mateusz Kanik from developers CD Projekt, a workaround that sounds just as insane as the idea of a "one shot" role-playing game itself.

The move was partly inspired by the success of Demon's Souls, 2009's role-playing game that was notorious for its difficulty and lack of forgiveness for players that made mistakes.

Those terrified by the idea of a long and lasting death, don't worry; "insane" mode is the hardest of four difficulties, so those who just want a stroll through the woods can scale it back to something easier.

Great idea!  IMO , if you die , its REALLY gameover , which is a new way to play RPGS.

Well considering that the Game in your Sig and Avatar as well as Mass Effect 3 are going to be top notch RPGs, you can't really say right now that the Witcher 2 is going to be the BEST RPG EVAR!!!

Though the Witcher's RPG elements are looking very good. 16 unique endings and so many different ways to solve the same situation. That is a true WRPG. I'm definitely keeping my eyes on TW2.

This really sounds like a very fun game to me,I didn't play the first,but I may just pick this one up.

I think they should add a dialogue option near the end that leads to unavoidable death just to fk with people...

You have pretty low standards haha. It'll take more than difficulty for any RPG to top the masterpiece that was Xenogears.
