Forums - Sony Discussion - Mass effect 2 looks much better on PS3(video comparison inside)

Video comparison inside??? Really? You mean the 2 seconds showing off Jacob???

All I see is a tweaked Mass Effect 2, which I surely will have to test to ensure there are not major frame rate and texture issues...

i think its cool that they use the ME3 engine on the ps3 version of ME2 makes me more excited for the game

Great game.  Everybody (except Wii owners) get to play it.  Everybody wins.  Let's stop fighting amongst ourselves and pick at Wii owners!!

You contradict yourself a bit...

If Mass Effect 1 playtime/choices/conversations/actions had no bearing on Mass Effect 2 then definitely it would NOT matter.

However, it does have bearing. Something like 200 different possible outcomes (cant remember where i saw an entire list, but it is around that number) that Ps3 owners probably can't have other than a pre-set number.

The contradiction might have come from me leaving out the word "NOT" before my edit.  And I agree that a well made RPG with choices will have bearings especially if it's tied to a sequel.  But what's to stop someone who played Mass Effect 1 only to decide to play the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 to get that potential better experience?  That player has the option of recapping the story of the original in the comic into to coincide with his original actions.  I don't see the issue here in regards of enjoying Mass Efect 2.

I dont mean this in slightest offense, but I don't think you fully grasp what I am saying. I am not saying that PS3 people can't simply play ME1 on another console/pc. Sure they can, but it wont affect their PS3 game. The contradiction you made is when you said "Mass Effect 1 is Mass Effect 1" . That game has bearing on every subsequent gmae in ME series.

In Mass Effect 1, players choices and things you did carried over into Mass Effect 2, using the SAME save file. This was a huge selling feature for the game. One that even if you play ME1 on PC/360 and THEN play on PS3, WILL NEVER get to enjoy. EVER. Bioware said you can choose the basic choice options: whether or not Wrex dies, Ashley dies, etc at the start of the PS3 version... but those are the most basic choices made in ME1. There are over 200 things that PS3 people won't have that is unique to their game. My friends and I all played similar games of ME2, but many little things happened differnetly as a result of our ME1 save files... different characters resurfaced, different missions came about, or altered conversations.

Yes, the PS3 version definetely comes with free DLC and improved visuals and that is awesome, but PC/360 already have the DLC, its nothing we don't have. But the PS3 version can NEVER experience the feature of save file transfer and therefore has less content. Fact.

If you noticed in my responses, I use words like "potential" because I don't know how the PS3 version will actually turn out.  But guess what, neither do you.  Let's see how the "comic book recap" is played out before we start making any sound judgments.  It might be done to the effect that when you start playing the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, it wouldn't be any different than starting any other version of it as if a save file was transfered to influence the start of Mass Effect 2.  And I understand the concept of the feature of save file transfer because I experienced this during the PSOne and PSTwo days.  But I plan to borrow a friend's Xbox 360 to play the first Mass Effect.  And then I see myself buying PS3 and making my decisions to coincide what I will be doing when I play the first one.  But Mass Effect 2 PS3 version is looking to be the better version, getting back on topic.

Looking good! ah though i already have my definite purchases for next year i may have to squeeze this in.

Ha where is Selnor?

Hopefully the PS3 version will come with some sort of "Choose Your Fate" recap video so that the guys buying it now can make the game their own (if you know what I'm saying).  But this is Bioware we're talking about.  I'm sure they already came up with decent solution.

Cant wait to see how my decisions turn out, now that I have shiny face graphics at my disposal...

Doesn't surprise me, late port is late...

This is nothing we haven't seen before.

Comic book???haha

Mass Effect 3 engine on Mass Effect 2???haha

All the DLC for free???haha

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say to me here...  Your second point exactly reinforces what I was saying, that they've had more time to work on it so it's not unusual that it would look better.  Your first and third points have nothing at all to do with the thread, the discussion, or my post...

The bottom line here is that PS3 users get a better version of a great game with more content which makes the price worth it.  Also, PS3 users have PLENTY of other quality games to keep them busy until that time comes.  You get the best of all worlds here.  Besides, not every Xbox 360 users who want to experence Mass Effect 2 has experenced it, yet.  They're late to the party, too.  But so what?

Again, none of that is relevant to my point.  All I was saying was that a graphical upgrade was expected given that they've had more time to work on it.

I don't know why people are trying to debate me about whether or not it's worth it because I've said nothing about that.  For the record, I do think it's a great deal for PS3 owners, and I hope they help the game reach the sales it deserves.  That's still not relevant to the thread though...  The comment about PS3 owners having other games to play is also irrelevant, everybody has other games to play.  Let's just keep this thread about ME2 PS3 graphics the way it was intended...

I hate to admit it but I've been posting in this thread the whole time without ever clicking on the link in the OP (He really should have embeded the video).  Anyway, I just watched it and I must admit, I am impressed.
