I decided to do a little comparison of Motorstorm (PS3) and the upcoming FlatOut (360) for no apparrent reason. The info of FlatOut is based on previews. Motorstorm was considered a tech demo, so a better game with similar style for 360 could be pretty important for the sales this year.
Gameplay: Both are apparently very good, so it's a tie.
Sound: Motorstorm has great motor sounds and diverse soundtrack. I don't know a lot of FlatOut, so tentatively Motorstorm wins.
Graphics: Technically (lighting*, blurring*, physics** etc.) FlatOut wins, but I'd say the few race tracks on Motorstorm are artistically better. Result: FlatOut wins by hair.
Value: Motorstorm has lots of different vehicle types, but only 8 tracks and no split screen gaming. FlatOut has lots of different game types and a nice selection of cars. Result: FlatOut wins.
Conclusion: I think FlatOut is going to do better review and sales wise, although it's not going to get as much attention as Motorstorm for obvious reasons. Most of the hardcore racing fans are going to buy PS3 or Xbox 360, so the flux of great games is important at this stage. I predict X0 as a winner in this genre.

** I know there's going to be debate, but this is from IGN's preview: "While the visuals, selection of cars and alternative gaming modes did raise our pulses, the one feature that really stood head and shoulders over everything else was Ultimate Carnage's incredible destruction model, which was responsible for some of the most realistic and spectacular real-time vehicle degeneration we've ever seen." http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/778/778594p1.html
