ok seems like he was really serious. however, I still feel bad for Insomniac as I know a comment like that has to hurt after you saying that you were so happy to find out that Miyamoto was inspired by you.
Man the bias of this site is sickening. Miyamoto is a god in gaming yes, but when he comes out with a comment that was MOST LIKELY made with no malicious intent but could still be deemed rather egotistical, people celebrate it?
Im pretty sure if the guys from polyphony digital came out and said they'd never heard of Metroid for example, they'd be murdered on here.
Also, it wasnt exactly ALL of insomniac that said they thought Miyamoto copied R&C, it was one of their marketing guys. How does that speak for the entire company or their attitude? Besides, they said they were flattered, they aimed it as a compliment toward Miyamoto, it wasnt like they said "I cant believe that jerk stole our ideas".

I think you guys are missing the point, Miyamoto would know what R&C is, he's just making a smart-ass comment back at them for claiming he ripped of their idea.
That was my original take on it anyway.

Metroid has far more history than R&C, if they said they hadn't heard of Pikmin I wouldn't blame them at all, or animal crossing or Perfect Dark. Any of the younger series you can't really blame them for not having heard about.
You can bet that Shigeru has heard of Dragon Quest.
R&C sold more on PS2 then any GC game sold last gen, and thats all that matters.

It basically comes down to this, R&C isn't a classic series, there is nothing in it that would make it stand out or catch the attention of Miyamoto, why would he even notice the series

And do people honestly think Miyamoto knows what R&C is? Why would he? He's a creative director. By evidence of Pikmin, he clearly spends more time in his garden than he does playing other consoles. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the man has NEVER played a 360, PS3 or a PSP.
Miyamoto isn't a gamer. He's not like the people on this site. It's not his job to examine what other games are coming out. It's his job to keep making the awesome games that he does.
The fact that he's never heard of R&C just means that it really isn't even a blip on the radar for him.
