Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why Polyphony Digital was playing FORZA 3 at E3 2009

What's funny is that while many say they are direct competitors, they're not exactly competitors since they are exclusive for two different systems. Still, though, I'm sure they could learn from each other and take some things from one another.

I still like Forza 3 so much. Will not buy GT5

I was a sucker, I bought it anyways.

I thought the online would be much better as thats what I mainly play for both F3 and Gt5.  GT5  still has assholes that crash bounce corners and I can't get over that aspect.   So I have went back to F3 for the time being.

They've added optional damge to the online in the latest patch. You may want to try it.

I haven't turned my ps3 on for anything but Blu-ray for a little while so I will do that.  And get back with you.  So the bounce crash bs is fixed?

Honestly, I haven't tried online since as I've been doing the endurance races, so no gaurantees, lol. The latest version is 1.03 and it's supposed to add 3 damage levels to the lounge area: none, light and realistic.

Light damage is temporary (an extension of the penalty system I think), whilst realistic is supposedly the full blown mech damage.

i was gonna get GT5 but when i got forza 3 is was sooo much more fun than gt5p i didnt like the graphics/gameplay in gt nearly as much as forza.

I seriously am not trying to come off sounding like a fanboy but just wait until they get some of the kinks worked out and the games cheaper ( if you plan on buying it at all (GT5) ).  I wish I had just waited until they fixed all the kinks.  The main allure was the simple fact that the game has more cars to race against and I couldn't pass that up.  But after playing both, there isn't a huge difference other than more cars on the track, and before any aholes jump in here I'm not downing GT5 I own it and its a good game.  But it has kinks, that is all..

hmm i dont really want to support a company that takes 5-7 years to make a game. it should NOT have and bugs at'll. especially for a racer. Proof that it's PD fault is turn ten did the same thing in 2 years. i loves gt2...never played a gt (Besides GT5p) game after it though...seems like PD has lost some of its quality

I said the same thing but went and bought it anyways.  I will assure you it will not happen again.  If it takes them 5-6 years to develop I will wait and give it a try at a friends house before I buy it.  Unless it gets high 90's.  Turn 10 will probably release 3 or 4 games before it comes out again if they do that.  And I have a feeling that PD has learned a valuable lesson this go round.  PD may actually have been knocked down a rung or 2 and may be a little more hungry for the next one.   I hope they are anyways, because I love the GT series and only want a better product to come out of this.

In what way? Sales? Metacritic score?

I believe PD was and still is threatened by the quality / innovation / customization / online of forza 3.

PD was NEVER threatened by Forza sales, as they can't compete with GT5 in that area

it's a difference, you not recommending a game for the wrong reasons, if you love racing and cars and the most realistic driving you'll ever get in a sim your a fool to pass up GT5,

however if menus and  graphical inconstancies mean more to you than the stated above (you probably shouldn't be playing sims) and Forza would be a great alternative. This is of course in my opinion, but saying the amount of cars on track is the only thing that separates GT and Forza clearly shows how little about GT5 you actually know. How about you play alittle more and the differences will become known

Once again you don't know what you are talking about. Development started in late 2006 for GT5. Between 2006 and 2010 PD also developed and released GT5:P and GT PSP.

@tombi123 - GT5 was in development for at least 5 years, possibly 6

and "what you believe" is that this article in the OP supports your opinion, which is why you post it like it's a fact, even though it is clearly a tongue in cheek opinion piece.

*shitstorm incoming*

Devs are usually friendly with each other, but I can see PD and Turn 10 being bitter rivals xD

Honestly I hope they do become bitter rivals. As far as I've heard they may as well be the two greatest racing/sim developers on consoles.

It'd make for incredible competition, and better games. I'd rather them be on friendly terms, but Turn 10 once said PD passed the baton to them . . . that could be homage or saying that PD is "outdated". E

Well, it's funny, Sony boys ripping into Turn 10 for their immature comments. I'm sure this only fires PD on to outdoing themselves and "beating "T10" even more. It IS good for competition, and for all we know, GT5 might have turned into a better product because of it.

A lot of gamers did that same just to let you know.
