By the way the majority of those games sold on 360 are third party. Its a pity that Microsoft cant continuously develop great games that sell. i guess they just dont have the same talent as some other companies.

Lol, you do know strong 3rd party sales are actually a good thing right?

yes of course, it's not only good its great. However Microsoft is not recieving alot of money when alomost all third party titles. That is why they always struggle to make a profit. And one of these days they might have to rely on their own titles in order to compete in the Market.

Examples

Nintendo Gamecube
N64
Playstation 3

Sorry when selling almost all third party games

Microsoft is getting a very healthy cut out of the sales of every one of those third party games, without having to foot a dime of the production costs... there's not really a down side.

Additionally, they have published 2 million selling games in the past 3 months -- Nintendo and Sony only have one between them: Mario Galaxy.

No, I was too slow. I liked the original wording much more:

That's more than Nintendo and Sony combined.

I loved that spin.

Haha! I should have said "by a 2 to 1 margin" just to be a complete arse.

What a coincedence, Microsoft state's they've sold over 1 million copies of Mass Effect and everybody ignorantly jumps on it and claims it was to retail. Boom, Mass Effect does half a million America in alone the first week. I like how people actually thought they were lying when NPD was coming out 5 days later.

Yup, where are the "sold to retailers" people now?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Cool cause I just bought 5 games today:

Crackdown
Bullet Witch
Kameo: Elements of Power
Peter Jackson's King Kong
Ridge Racer 6

All at decent prices, well worth it and my time!

Wait you have a 360 again?

So basically they're saying that they're doing better because their console is more expensive than the Wii? I suppose you can think of it like that...

The part that really should make them happy is that they win in total revenue. People forget that the Xbox is more expensive than the Wii so they dont have to sell as much to match it and they are priced almost on par with the PS3. Then they got the incredible software sales, and largest userbase online for a console. Im assuming Microsoft makes a killing on Xbox live revenues if you include subscription costs, Video marketplace downloads, and Xbox live arcade sales.

I think you are slightly confused, revenue does not mean profit, if we are talking on who's making the most money, then there no doubt nintendo, are making more profit than combined sales of PS3 and 360 on the Wii alone. Don't help them spin thier more Revenue BS, don't mean jack.

I am sure in the eyes of MS, Sony and Nintendo, all they care about is their bottom line.

However, if developers see that even though the Wii has been, and still is, outselling the X360 in hardware, but still lagging well behind in software....They'll choose what will move their software the most. EA showed this a few months ago, when the X360 was moving 3 or 4x the money for their software.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
