So PS3 Black Ops beat Reach quite easly WW. It almost did in USA also.

DS will pass PS2 in December Jarrod. Pass isn't really the right word, its more like streak by it with a lead over 2 million units.

Also, if Wii does 3m ish in December in the USA, which is likely given Nov 2010 > Nov 2009 and similar promotions in Dec are in place from last year, it will only be about 10-11m behind PS2 lifetime in the USA.

Moreover, the PS2 had only seven months in the USA where it topped 1m (Dec 2001, Nov 2002, Dec 2002, Dec 2003, Dec 2005, Dec 2006, Dec 2007.), while Wii is on its seventh month in the USA over 1m now (Dec 2007, Nov 2008, Dec 2008, Nov 2009, Dec 2009, Nov 2010, and obviously Dec 2010). I would assume Wii has at least two more months over 1m in the USA. If December 2010 gets to 3m, 47% of Wii sales in 2007-2010 in the USA will be over Nov and December. In fact, 31% of Wii sales in that period would be sold in December. So if that were to continue, in theory as long as 3.25m Wiis are sold in the USA Wii will have a 1m December. That probably won't hold though.

Realistically there could another > 1m Wii Nov-Dec in 2011 (1.05m / 2.5m?). Then probably > 1m in Dec 2012 (1.8m?) and Dec 2013 (1.1m?). That will likely be it.

LOL PS3rd is getting outsold by amost a cool mil by the 360 this last month.

Sony must be crying right now because they know they have no shot at passing the 360.

If I were them I would just get out of the console business and make games for Microsoft, they would make a whole lot of money that way.

 

I currently reside under the London Bridge.

Speaking of PSP, after much searching on the Google, I was able to find PSP and PS2 numbers for November. I've edited them into the article on the front page. Hardware sales for Nov 2010 were actually up 1% from HW sales in Nov 2009 in the USA.

Spoke to Pachter too, he doesn't think X360 is going to do 2m in the USA in Dec, but he has been really conservative on his hw estimates recently. He's far more optimistic on Wii / DS than X360 though.

Did Pachter give any explanation for that 360 number? Below 2 million seems quite low for a console that did 1.37 million in November.

I would imagine it all comes down to supply of Kinect Sensors.  I think they projected sale of 5 million because that is what they could produce for sale in November and December.  If I was MS I would get out that anyone who purchase a non Kinect 360 in December can register to get a coupon to purchase a Kinect sensor for $99.99.  Register by January 15th.



Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I guess that makes sense. Looking at November Kinect gave a boost of 550k. (just comparing to last year). If Microsoft ships a similar number for December Xbox 360 could see a similar rise in sales for December.

One intesresting note, just in Black Friday 400k Blu Ray Players were sold

Blu-ray Disc player sales set a record for unit volume during the Black Friday week (ended Nov. 28), up more than 50% from the same period last year, according to The NPD Group.

Stephen Baker, VP of industry analysis with NPD, said more than 400,000 Blu-ray players were sold during the week as consumers gravitated toward steeply discounted models featuring Internet connectivity. The median price per unit was $113, down 23% from a median price of $145 last year.

Notably, 3D Blu-ray players accounted for 15% of the units sold.
