Forums - General Discussion - Canada's weakness brought out by Wikileaks!

Alright today the CBC reported that the US over the last few years made a list of weak points that could bring down Canada. It also listed all targets in Canada that would effect the United States. They interviewed ministers in our Government and security analysts that say these targets must be protected by the Canadian security aparatus.

Apparently the US Government also did not share its list with the Canadian Government. Apparently the list includes many vital infastructure targets that would immobalize Canada and devestate the US. Now the list of all of Canada's highest targets is availible for terrorist organisations and rival governments like Russia.

So is Canada alone I heard at the end of the report that the US also had lists of vital targets for several other countries. Did your countries hit list get leaked? Why does the US even have lists of all our countries weaknesses and vital infastructure?

Man and Wikileaks say they have worse stuff. What could be worse then a hit list of all the vital parts of Canada's infastructure? What is it going to reveal next a hit list of government leaders?

Yes even a list of little Belgium..

Anyway looking to the list it didn't show much I didn't know yet..

The US had their embassies in all countries make lists of targets that would affect the US. I'd say devastate is bit too strong.

The targets in the Netherlands are:

The Rotterdam Harbour (Largest harbour in Europe and the gateway into Germany, so someone better nuke it)

Two places where large sea cables for wathever hit land.

My personal recommendation would be blowing up our dikes to flood a third of the country. That would really screw us over.

Yah that would screw the Netherlands.

I mean I could see why the US would want to know where its allies weaknesses were so they could warn our governments and help us protect them. But the US Gov gave strict orders not to inform our countries about these weaknesses.

Why does the US need a list of our weaknesses if they aren't telling us about them? Does the US expect us to get invaded or to invade us.

At least now our countries knows about these weaknesses and targets. Maybe we can better secure them. But it is very worrying to know that the US had this list to begin with and even more worrying to know that everyone now knows our weaknesses.

One of the weaknesses in Canada is a facility that creates vaccine's apparently if it was hit the viruses could get out. Apparently the facility has some very dangerous viruses and also the facility creates vaccines for the world. I didn't even think that it could be so vital to our security.

Other targets include all our dams and nuke plants as well as our weapons factories that produce APC's and other vehicles for the army and weapons for our troops.

Nope but they definatly aren't our ally. They keep flying bombers into our air space. Or at least nearly into our air space. Just a few months ago we had to scramble our fighters to intercept two Russian bombers and keep them out of our air space. The Government of course said they weren't a threat and claimed they did not know why Russian bombers would be entering our airspace.

But security analysts think that Russia is testing our air defences. They also flew bombers over Taiwan and other countries. Them knowing our countries weaknesses in my mind is not good. Infact any country studying my countries weaknesses or knowing my countries weaknesses is not good in my books.

How can it possibly be a good thing for other countries to know all your weaknesses?

Can't wait until the inevitable alien invasion, then we'll be worrying about a common enemy. (and lots of probing, lol)

Wouldn't surprise me if most countries have things like this.

I think countries (and terrorist) know perfectly well what priority locations are, only know we know what locations the US thinks will hit them personally.

There's probably a dozen nuclear locations that aren't on the list but that my goverment should better protect. Khan, father of the Pakistani atom bomb, stole/learned nuclear knowledge in the Netherlands in the 70s. Knowledge that he might have sold to Libya, North Korea and Iran.

This wikileaks stuff is out of hand. I mean Im all for releasing information and the right to know, but some things are very private matters. I mean its like if someone took all your past emails and put them online  for everyone to look at how would fair would that be? Of course some people could claim they have the right to see them because you are in a way responsible for them or their wellbeing, but there could be damaging stuff in there if a third party found out. Not everyone should have a right to this information. And since you cant be selective about who gets the information, the internet is not the way to go about it.

In the case of wikileaks, people's lives are at stake even if the names are removed. Plus this info is hurting diplomatic relations between the US and other countries as well as between other countries mentioned in the leaks like Saudia Arabia and Pakistan. Its way out of control. And there are supposedly hundreds of thousands of these files. Someone needs to stop this guy because this is not how things are supposed to work.
