Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu: MHP3 and PSP figures

Actually I had no problem with your responses until someone, whose name will go unnamed (), started ridiculing my arguments. The only reason to ridicule (as opposed to disagree with) my arguments is what I then presented in a somewhat extreme way.

Anyways, while it may be common sense for many, and I consider it a real and likely possiblity, it is still an assumption. There are a lot of things that are common sense that end up being wrong. For it to be more than common sense, imo at least 250k PSPs from this week should be that special version. The way you said it, I thought you were actually quoting a source, which is why I asked for it.

It's likely to sell those because we are talking about MH here.

I think this is the most interesting part of all this.

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 03rd Jan 2010 to 27th Nov 2010:

Console PSP
Japan
1,972,138

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 03rd Jan 2010 to 27th Nov 2010:

Console DS
Japan

It would seem that PSP has a very real shot at being #1 in Japan this year. And this is with DS getting a price cut, a record setting Pokemon game, and Pokemon bundles. Talk about unexpected.

I think so too. PSP has a much bigger momentum towards the holidays. However it will drop off big next week. If it can maintain 150k-200k till the end of the december then maybe

Very impressive, though I doubt it'll actually outsell it. To get so close and possibly take the lead for a week or so is simply amazing.

I guess at a sixth of a nation's population, you're bound to hit some sort of saturation point.

I don't think it's gonna happen either but it is possible.

I would keep track but that handheld race stopped being interesting back in 2008.

Sony probably will pay for Monster Hunter Portable 4 be an PSP2 exclusivo.

I suppose that would really pricey considering that Capcom might also have a shitload of profit with a 3DS iteration.

It will sell just as well on PSP2. Not to mention that MHP is more than one game series for PSP. It defines whole platform in Japan. Sony would be stupid not to moneyhat capcom and I seriously doubt that Nintendo will enter that race as they already have Pokemon, Mario and probably next DQ so they really don't need MHP. it would be just nice bonus.

Don't be so sure, after all Nintendo outmaneuvered Sony for MH3, there's no telling if they'll do the same or not for MHP4.  MoHun's one of the series Iwata's taken a personal interest in even, I think Nintendo will definitely fight for it (and Dragon Quest... Final Fantasy they seem to have little desire in grabbing).

I tend to agree that Sony needs MHP4 more though... if they can't secure that game, then they might as well not bother with PSP2 imo.

I'm more happy for Capcom than anything.

Several of their PS3/360 efforts have just outright  underperformed recently, so its about time they came into some serious DOUGH.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Monster numbers indeed.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

Impressive figures... I wonder what kind of behind the scenes bidding war is happening for MH on 3DS/PSP2?

Or iPhone/iPad?

OT:
Amazing numbers. Goes to show the PSP is far from dead in Japan. Shame that the rest of the world doesn't see it the same way!

Piracy. :(

The PSP got a lot of great games but the Piracy really dug a hole that Sony can't get out of.

Are you seriously blaming piracy in a thread about a game that sold over 2 million copies week 1?

If anything, this proves piracy was the least of the PSPs worries.

Though home console MH is a lot smaller game compared to its portable version and PS3 actually has better 3rd party support in Japan than Wii so maybe Nintendo felt that they really need it. We shall see what happens with MHP4. I bet that it ends up on PSP2 as Sony really needs it and usually when it comes to 3rd parties Sony has handled them better than Nintendo. It won't be huge surprise though if it comes to 3ds after all.
