I am just going to say this for ALL the People who believe that Final Fantasy XIII is the "WORST GAME EVERS" if you liked Vagrant Story then you are Hypocrites.

Final Fantasy is Final Fantasy because it dose NOT conform to a set mold that is why every Final Fantasy is DIFFERENT from the last except for compilation pieces of cores.

What?

Vagrant Story and FFXIII are different on so, so many levels...

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I too was super dissapointed with this game. Battle system was loads of fun, but had no story/character/exploration/anything to back it up.

I did, you say there's no connection, but there is they were like family. Fang sees Vanille as her little sister, see the language she uses, "You've been through a lot kid" (she says this on Pulse), is that how lesbian's speak with each other? No its how an older sister would talk to her younger sister. Your paragraph about Hope made no sense. Your opinion about the characters are your own, I can't change them but I can point out factual errors your making.

Just play FFVI thats how a character cast should be portrayed. Everyone carried their own weight with the overall story, each adding different realms of emotion and they did this with a 12 party cast. Square has lost its touch in making a cast that could be compared to the same light as FFVI. You can have your own opinion on this but I'll urge you to play FFVI before making supporting argument that FFXIII has a "awesome" cast. which it evidently doesn't.

This game must have the record for the most hate threads about any game on this site ever. I know I made mine.

Easily my biggest disappointment this gen. I don't understand why people love the battle system, it is by far my most hated feature and a sign of where RPG's as a genre is headed (actionland).

I'm at the beginning/middle of chapter 11 but can't muster the energy to play any longer and haven't picked up the game in months to be honest.

I've played FFVI and yes liked its cast more than FFXIII's. I still think FFXIII has a very good cast though, try again.

Have you played Yakuza 3?

Hikaruchan, tbh i dont love Vagrant Story, but i do like it and the story, narrative is phenonminal. VS is way too hard core, you could never expect a game like that to become successful, because its extreme. i find it very similar to Demon's Souls. and VS has such a great 'darkness' to it. but the battles are too hard imo. but its still a very good game.

FF13 is a fail because its not made for you an me. we were always going to buy it anyway. its made that way because since FF8 Square have been chasing a dream, which is to realise the critical and commerical success of FF7. FF13 was meant to be that game.

Final Fantasy is meant to different from the last, but the core of any half decent game is that at its core its a game. FF13 is hated because there are very poor gameplay elements. FF13 dosent conform to any set mold because imo its not even a game, its just a series of cutscenes (that some people have compared to a soap opera, i dont however); that is broken up by banal, monotous battles.

eg the Vile Peaks is such a boring dungeon. you fight a battle with some monster. then you fight the same battle again, using exactly the same strategy, (each battle is a scripted encounter). then you watch a cutscene, then you fight the same series of battles until the next cutscene. until eventully you face a boss, or you enter the next area via a cutscene.

after this cutscene you fight a scripted battle with a new enemy, and you repeat this process until the end of the game. i agree, that FF dosent have to conform to standards of the past, but if you look at what i've said i havent compared it to any game, or any RPG, based on the game itself its just not a good game, its a series of cutscenes broken up, by a scriped, monotous battle system. that dosent even call into question the dialogue itself or the lack of substance in the story.

i feel the same way, it was an ok game but i was very disapointed on it as an rpg and as a ff game. i'm sure the next instalment will be better, versus looks good.

for the people who liked it:  good for you, but you really dont need to keep defending it, it's hopeless and pointless and we are completely entitled to thinking it was a disapointment.

I know what you mean, its an okay game, not good by any means, but the high production values prevent it from being a total fail imo.

i get the impression that people dont really know why they like it, its just because the name FF is on the cover.

the problem is i dont think a lot of gamers realise that the man behind this game is NOT Sakaguchi, the current production team have made huge mistakes, the first being moving the game to PS3 after being 1 year in development for the PS2. the other problem is the obsession with the west: (but there are many, many more).

since FF8 Square have been chasing a dream, to replicate the critical and commercial success of FF7. FF10 is the closest they have ever come, but theres a difference, FF13 does not have Sakaguchi and imo this is why the final product has suffered greatly. and i think The Last Story will prove that losing Sakaguchi has been detremental to FF.

Your wrong, this was my first Final Fantasy and for many of my friends too (who liked it). Are the 73 positive reviews it got because reviewers never knew why they liked it? http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/final-fantasy-xiii/critic-reviews . I can accept you don't like the game, but don't say people who like it don't know why. FFXIII recently got a user's choice award and was 4th in the GOTY thread made by a user a few days back. Anyway if that is your poor attitude I will be ignoring all your posts from now on.
