Forums - General Discussion - Passion of the Christ video game

Ok guys it looks like you need a real christian to clear things up a bit and mind my spelling, im not that good, spent all my time playing games and not practicing for spelling tests lol.

Well starting off, the image of christ on the cross is a foul depiction of a man who scripture says has risen to life and is no longer on the cross. I apreciate the idea of christs image being on an electric chair if he was killed a few years ago because that is seriousily what the churches have done, they have displayed their so called saviour in his time of defeat and dispair. They should show him in his reserected glory as shown in the book of revelation.

Another point some one made about paul not ever meeting jesus can be looked at a different way in that paul changed his life after seeing a vision of jesus on the road to damascas (i think he was heading there, it was on a road anyway lol) so u could say paul did see jesus and was blinded and later made able to see by a man in the town. Paul then went on to save countelss thousands and his ministry brought christianity to Europe (specificaly the roman empire) and he used to kill hundreds of christians until his conversion (After seeing jesus) (the message of christ is to uplift and to save, not to kill) its like how the muslim extremists take the Koran out of context (which actually draws alot on the texts and stories of the old testament but this isnt about the koran) n then they make all muslims look bad infront of the rest of the world. Its like how the fanboys sometimes make the true lovers of games look bad or stupid or ignorant (you guys know what i mean)

And also the bible wasnt just put together by a council who wanted to retell the story it was emperor constantine who wanted to take all of the religious texts and put them into one book. So these are texts that had been used for years and years by the churches especially the old testament that had been used for a tousand or so years before. The books that were ommited were ommited because they wernt scripture. meaning they wernt inspired by god and they add nothing to what was allready in the scriptures. Some of the books that were ommited were ommited becuase they obtained belief systems contrary to christianity, such as gnosticism, it would be like adding parts of another religious text to the bible and trying to claim it as still being a christian text. Now there is also another thing concerning the bible and that is it's gods word. And god says his word is everlasting and was created be4 the beginning of time as we know it. So if you want to look at it from this perspective the bible had allways been written because god had allready decided what would be in it he only revealed it to us in its entirety over time using real life situations and examples so we would understand it. And this doesnt leave the old testament people out of the loop as they some how knew what we know today because the bible shows that people like abraham knew and had encounters with god and lived a moral life (as well as many people be4 noahs flood) and it could have been through stories that had been passed through adam to noah and then onto his children until god inspired people to write it down. But who knows, maybe it was written down and the flood of noahs time just destroyed it all??? Remember adam used to walk with god in the garden of eden, so he would have had the pure teaching of gods word!!! thats pretty sweet, he must have lost so much when he sined and was kicked out of eden

I also like how one of you pointed out that alot of christs followers dont live like he does and its the truth, they dont, and because of it jesus doesnt consider them his sons and daughters and they wont be getting into heaven (aka the new creation) They are the wolves in sheeps clothing that the bible talks about. Jesus came preaching a message of life change, judgement and grace. A person living in sin as paul and jesus state so many times is NOT going to heaven. the fact of the matter is the bible clearly states that you cant be living in sexual imorality (which includes homosexuality), stealing (which includes pirating songs and movies) lieing, murdering, hating, unforgivness ect, the bible seys you need to repent of these things (meaning changing the heart and the outward nature, look up the meaning of the word in the dictionary) and trust in the reserecting power of god for salvation.

Jesus clearly states that man cannot save himself, that its easier for a camel to galop through the eye of needle! only he can save. The thing about christianity is that it also contains the holy spirit which one of you mentioned be4. Now the holy spirit which is basicaly Jesus's spirit was given to all of us if we accept it to help us live the upright and moral life we have been called to live. Jesus seys "live by example," paul seys "if you live in the spirit you wont satisfy the sinful nature of the flesh", and that "if u arnt living in the spirit you cant possibly hope to be pleasing to god!" So christians have been given a helper and a promise that they have the means to live that moral life, anyone who then doesnt live that kind of life is only cheating themselves out of the gift of everlasting life. God didnt just chuck us into the world and expect us to fend for ourselves, he has given us everything we need, the bible, his spirit and himself on his throne in dominion over all.

dont confuse natural cotastrophies or wars and masicars as being evidence that god is not loving as theyr a doing of our own sinful nature and the curse placed upon the world because of it. (rememeber god made the world perfect with no death or destruction and thats what he intended for us to live in, but we wrecked it) God is there for the comfort and relief of thoes who choose to turn to him, not for thoes who blame him and hate him for our own mistakes and faults. God is there for the ones who come to him in humility, putting themselves below him, not the ones who come to him in pride and selfishnes. Think of the bad things in the world as a sifter that shakes and seperates gods children from the world, it refines us and shows our real character. there is also a need for god as seen in these disasters, its paul who seys "who can save me from this wretched body" and then he concludes that gods the only one who can

This brings me to this point. On a few occasions the writers of the bible dare to say that only a few will find the ritious path to heaven, and not everyone who says "Lord Lord" (meaning saying the right things that might make u apear to be a christian or be saved) will be accepted. The clear teaching of the bible is you need to live a repentant moraly upright life as well as having faith in christ because as paul seys, "your actions show your faith", and as jesus seys, 'if you love me you will obey me." Paul straight out says that a sinner can not enter heaven.

Now im not saying that im or other christians arnt sinners, but a real christian will have turned away from their sinful life. The bible also diferentiates betwene accidental sin and deliberate sin. it seys "If you go on sinning once the truth as been made known to you there is no longer a sacrifice that can save you." If you acted in the moment in a way that was sinful and realised it and turned away from it then you are repentant and turned from your sin when u realised you commited it. This doesnt mean you can come back tomorow and do it again, it means u have to move out of your old nature and take on christs, its all about where your heart is.

The bible says a good tree cant produce bad fruit and vice versa, the way u choose to live and act is evident of your heart and where your heart is is what matters. God says he judges the heart, not outward appearances. So you can do good but not have your heart right with god :o it all comes back to repentance.

This is just a brief overview of alot of christian truths and their all in the bible so if you think ive got it wrong or your dont believe me and think im making it up or something then you should read it for yourself. And also dont go looking up "contradictions in the bible" until u also look up "answers to the contradictions in the bible" because there is an answer to every ignorant persons shalow interpretation. The word of god is infalible and does not contradict its self or anything in gods whole creation. Which i supose leads me onto the last thing ill talk about which was mentioned be4 by someone is the so called "evidence" of god and jesus ect.

As god has said through his profits that he has revealed himself to everyone through his creation. Ill start off big with this, new research is showing that our universe might follow a fractal design in the placement of galaxies ect. now for thoes of you who dont know what fractals are look em up, but basicaly a fractal design is a patern based around a simple maths equation. So what the new universe mapping techniques are showing is that everything is placed in a mathematicaly corect relationship to everything else.

now if we look at something more close to home im sure at least some of you have heard of devine proportions and the fibonacci sequence? these are 2 mathematical, and very simple, equations of proportion and distribution that everything in the known creation abides by! so if you think about it the reason y a person with sever plastic sergery looks weird is cos once u change the proportions or positions of one thing on the face u have to change everything to be in the mathematicaly corect position to the new place or size of the altered feature. the human body, animals, butterly wings, stripes on zebras, all follow the same mathematical rules of perfect proportions (except for things with defects and mutations of course lol, oh speaking of which, the structure of a DNA strand also folows the mathematical rule in its structure) when god gave instruction to people in the bible to build things the measurements outlined are also measurements that abide to the perfect mathematical laws of proportion. The placements of seeds on flowers, like sun flowers are also in a mathematicaly corect position. So we are living in a world that is so ordered that chance, explosions or random placements of things could not create the mathematical corectness that we see with our very eyes. Its like taking a bag of hundreds and thousands and throwing them on the floor over and over until they all land in their colour groups or in a mathematical pattern lol its impossible

Another interseting thing ill point out and my last is that scientists are finding unfosilised dinosaur bones and other suposed prehistoric creatures, and actually have been for quite some time as some fossils that call fossils still maintain the original unfosolised bone or elements of it. Inside a t-rex bone they found red blood cels and they have found bone pits in alaska with duck bill dino bones in em, dried out like an old cow bone. But getting into all that is a whole nother story. Its called the evidence of the global flood of noah (you all know noahs ark) so be4 u dismiss this look into it cos you cant just look at one side of the picture, u cant say god or jesus isnt real unles u actually open your eyes to the truth, it would be like some one saying "I have a new really cool friend who gave me this awesome mario galaxy game" and then u not believeing about the friend and thinking that the guy went out and made the game up himself (even though he has no knowledge of how to make a game)

And thats just like the bible, the people who wrote down gods word didnt have all the science and stuff we have today they just wrote the truth that god revealed to them and now, a few thousand years after the writing of the bible, we have the means to prove a faith of a perfect all powerful all knowing god who claims authorship over everything we know and see and feel ect.

All this new evidence leans towards a created universe of order and mathematical corectness (maths cant evolve) donosaurs didnt die out billions of years ago or else we wouldnt have dryed out dino bones :S And theres alot more evidence then what ive just stated, but it would take me days to go through everything i know

Hopefully people who read their bibles will know all the scripture ive stated cos i dont have time to find where it all is so you guys can cross refrence it :( But check it all out, dont just state some crazy acusation or something when u know nothing about what your talking about, dont pretend you know something and give your opinion cos you just add to all jumble of confused people who take mans word as being final. If you take gods word as being final then you can never go wrong! Im sure the god that made everything would know what hes talking about when he makes the claims that he does.

There is no proof that denies the Bible and/or belief in God.

In fact, there is more evidence supporting a belief in a superior being than there is evidence supporting "natural origin".

The "fairy tale" is the notion that we all just came from nowhere. There's a reason that every single person that ever set out to write a detailed, journalistic, researched book to disprove God ended up converting from atheism to Christianity.

My Response is in Bold

First off, i watched this at Wiifanboy.com. it was amusing, though definitely weird. In and of itself, I don't really find it insulting, but it does seem to have been marked as fodder for people to use to heckle christians.

People heckle people. Christians heckle atheists. Atheists heckle Christians, even Christians heckle Christians. Ideas and beliefs and feeligns about any religion particularly when it encourages different behavior than otehrs will always cause debate, anger, lashing. Feeling like a victim is not a good thing. Apprecaiate your belief and state it regardless of what others feel about it just don't expect otehrs to share your outlook or belief all the time. After all this world would be boring if we all felt the same way about everything.

Second of all, people calling Jesus a fictional character need help. Even if there is little evidence outside of christian sources, that's still a ridiculous reason to doubt its authenticity. Whose lives did jesus affect, christians, who's gonna remember him? Christians.

Jesus's life also effected the Jews very strongly in the new testament. Say what you want but the jewish people did keep a very detailed history and as I said tehre a few possibilities in the Talmads but nothign that fits teh accounts as stated.

He didn't go out and conqure the world or level cities or anything. Nonchristians didn't really have a reason to remember him, and those nonchristians who did have a reason, usually had more of a reason to try to refuse to acknowledge him. To say that this is all just a big conspiracy, then you might as well keep going and believe that we never landed on the moon and 9/11 was actually caused by GW B

Jesus posed a threat to Jewish Law and even there power structure. So much so he was arrested. teh romans didn't really care about him but tthe Jewish rabbis sure did. You know I do believe that he existed but I tend to think other accounts of him would be different than the one read. There are some people who believe that Paul started the church after finding written stories of a bunch of messiah types and combining them into one. Rememebr many of teh Messiahs names were like Yeshu d'nazzarat or Yeshu or Joshua ben Perachiah. He may have even had a legitiment spiritual moment and it wouldn't necessarily be a conspiracy. However thepossibilities are endless. However I choose to beleive he was real. Rememebr also most stories got spread during this time by word of mouth so they could of congelled from many different people into one. It is neither foolish nor malice to truly believe he does not exist nor to state that as your belief. Remember religion is based on faith and not necessarily proof.

Lets see you try to prove that Neil Armstrong actually existed 200 years from now. I bet you won't even have a degree in fungineering by then.

Easy I can dig up his bodie find photos and video tape read accounts from varying sources and so on.

Third of all, comparing Hitler to Jesus is like comparing biological weapons to a vaccine. Sure, you can wind up with a bunch of people that go around stabbing everyone with the vaccination needles, but that doesn't suddenly change it from a vaccine to a biological weapon. Am I saying the crusades didn't happen? No. But I don't recall Jesus being around to give his mein fuhur speech to the masses.

I agree there is no real correlation to Hitler and Jesus and it is as I said in several PMS an ignorant analogy IMO. That said religion like politics is capable of being mixed with greed or ambition in a negative way. One reason I find it important to always try to look at yourself and those who help guide you in any type of spirtuality or relgion.

It's all politics. Religion has just been USED as an excuse to get people to follow blindly. Same is true for any group with any beliefs; the Nazis, the terrorists with the Koran, Environmentalists, PETA, Feminists and the like. This doesn't mean that this is the purpose of religion, but merely that it can be exploited. However to place the blame for this exploitation squarely on religion itself is utter nonsense.

As you can tell we pretty much agree here on this. It is just iportant to add yet again that this is allowed to happen because otehr people can use catch phrases and even twisted into believing it is right. I have seen plenty of churches in my travels that use the phrase "Army of God"with little context. I feel this is to give a sense of self empowerment which is good but can also be seen negatively. Well maybe I am wrong here or not I am a pacifist.

Fourth point, Jesus died as a pact. He was God's son, who was born for the purpose of making physical the contract between God and humanity, signifying that the sins gathered over our lifetime could be repented for, thus allowing us entry into heaven, rather than dooming us to hell simply because we made a few mistakes.

The concept of Hell(Gehenna, Sh'eol) is different under Judiasm than Christianity. But yes Jesus did expand greatly upon the idea of the afterlife and this is the belief no matter how else I may of worded it.

that should cover the baic logical falacies I've seen. the one problem that irritates me so much are people that pull up all these facts that supposedly prove Jesus or God doesn't exist, but when it comes right down to it, their logic has about 500 holes in it.

This is untrue and unneccessary. First off everyone never happens or rarely happens. Secondly the opposite has happened as well as this. This is like saying all scientist are not religious which is also grossly false. Secondly tehre are other religions out there and some who have converted have become buddhists or Jewish or Muslim. Usually someone who studies religion is already theologically inclined but many study religion as a measure of history as well(and have brought about some interesting ideas for religous people to think about).

But as for proof of existence of god? no I believe that is a matter of faith.

My point is stop believing the bible, it's a book of bad fairy tales. Think for yourself and analyze situations and reality. Don't be another religious tool.

All religions are the same. Means of control and power. They're all off shoots of the same idea... Man's fear of the unknown.

There is no God, no fairies, no demons, no angels, no tooth fairy, no santa claus.

I understand that religion is a big part of your life, but pleae try to think about whether the things you believe in make any sense, that's all we ask.

Sorry, but you're wrong. All religions are a means of supplying a form of moral laws which are necessary for the function of a society. POLITICS is a means of gaining power and control.

You know how murder is illegal, and so is stealing, and lying under oath, etc? About now you should probably be realizing i'm going to pop in with teh 10 commandments. overused, perhaps, but that's because it demonstrates the point so well.

You tell me to think for myself and analyze situations and reality. Perhaps you should take some of your own advice. Shall I instead believe that there is nothing after we die, that the universe and our comprehension of it is a complete freak accident, and that there are no repercussions for my actions other than those enforced by law?

My conclusions have all been formed from a solid decade of constant thought on the matter, of what god is, what religion is, what faith is and what the afterlife is. I, contrary to what your misconceptions seem to imply, have hardly been indoctrinated by anything other than my experience through life. I was actually kicked out of Sunday school because I fought with other kids too much. The most regularity I've ever been to church is once a year for Christmas.

I have analyzed these things thoroughly, and I haven't stopped thinking about them, and looking for logical problems, testing them out on people with different views, and i have yet to find someone who successfully manages to disprove any aspect of God, religion or the afterlife without either overlaying their own inaccurate beliefs or making total logical gaffs.

"Religion is wrong because it says that the earth is at the center of the universe, but Galileo showed that the earth orbits the sun." Except we now have a theory for universal expansion which theorizes that ALL points in the universe are expanding away from each other equally, hence all points in the universe are at the center of the universe.

"Religion says god created all species, but scientists have proven that it was all from evolution" Except science HASN'T PROVEN that evolution can actually allow one species to become an entirely different species, hence it's just a theory, and even it it was proven, all it shows is HOW these species were created, but does NOT disprove God as the source of this happening.

Science continues to answer HOW things happen, but has never been able, nor has ever been intended to explain WHY things happen.

Quite frankly, I can't imagine how a rational person could possibly NOT believe in God and still be capable of functioning in society through anything other than fear.

Argghh Why?

The bible is not a book of fairy tales. many events described in it did happen you do not even have to be a literalist to understand this. Albert Einstein believed in God and so did Isaac Newton. It may not have been the way many here do but still it is not always a means of control and power that only really happens when you blindly follow something and it is not the fear of the unknown but a feeling inside. I can understand you are athiest well good for you understand you don't have to be a clod to believe in god.

Prediction: Topic will stay alive by next year.

Understanding is the key.

I'm not afraid of anything, including death, god, or hell. I have morals. I'm an atheist. I am a rational human being.

Well, here I am. I'm real. People like me exist. I don't care what happens when I die, because nothing will happen when I die.

I refuse to believe in morality at gunpoint. If your only source of morality is a desire for heaven or a fear of hell, that's not really morality. It's like I'm supposed to not murder people just because I'm afraid of jail. Maybe I just don't like to murder people and I just want to be a nice person? Is that possible?
