Forums - Sony Discussion - Total GT5 WW sales

EMEAA: 1,174,290

Americas: 473,393

Japan: 430, 707

Worldwide: 2,078,390

Pretty good. But also pretty lame. Most predictions ranged anywhere from 8.5-15 million total lifetime. I, myself, see it being around 10 million-hell maybe it might even break the barrier and go past it, who knows.

Just a question I want to ask everyone. How many people have you heard of who purchased a PS3 purely for Blu-ray? I've met about 3 myself. And I know one on youtube as well, that person being Seananners. Why would Seananners do that? I don't really know nor do I reaaally care. lol

I think it's undertracked in EMEAA. I also don't think GT5 will top 10 million anymore. It will probably go to 8-8.5 million max, falling short of BO and MW2 as the best selling PS3 game (though it will be the best selling exclusive).

I was expecting 2.5m from the preview but it was off so yeh.....still good.

But If I were you I wouldn't think for a sec that this is IT as it might or most probly get adjusted down the road.

SeaNanners games on his PS3, he's just very selective with his games on the PS3 and only plays the "top notch" exclusives. I watched his Uncharted 2 playthrough earlier (which he axed shortly after, probably because he got busy).

But there are people who buy a PS3 with blu-ray being one of the main reasons, but I doubt that number is too large. I'm sure people game on their PS3s too because what sense does it make to buy an HDTV, a $300 video game console, and not play games on it? People like SeaNanners probably use the 360 as their primary gaming console, but they reserve the PS3 for its exclusives and multimedia functionabilities.

I guess it's a matter of having appropriate expectations. It'll be the best selling exclusive game, although I would personally rather see one of this gen's new IP take that crown. Either Uncharted 3, or LBP, or something. And it'll be the best selling racer on the HD consoles. 2 things that will make GT5 a great success irrespective of its sales. And it will be profitable, probably already is profitable with the 2 million FW and GT5P sales combined.

The thing about the level of sales it's heading towards is it means GT no longer has the pulling power it did.

Racing isn't the genre it once was, can it ever return to its former glory?

In america and Japan...perhaps. But we can't say till the around February when we see what kind of legs the game shows

GT is known for legz!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It has definitely fallen a little short in America and Japan.

Lets see how legs are.

Anyway, I do know how GT6 can become the best selling game this gen -

Gran Turismo 6: Modern Warfare

Basically, at the end of a race, you are picked up by a helicopter and dropped off in a warzone to shoot some suckers.... at the end of the level, you get to drive again.

The campaign will last around 4 hours max. Online will not have cars, and only the Modern Warfare aspect of it will happen. PPD and IW will combine to make this 20 million seller in 2013. Mark my words.

I think I was right all along in assuming this title wouldn't reach 10 million lifetime. I don't think it has a chance of that at all. I was thinking it would have a bigger first week than this (like up to a million bigger) and then have the ordinary GT legs which would propel it up towards the 9 million mark. With the first week being below what I had initially assumed, I can't see it reaching too far beyond 8 million even with GT legs as we know them, the installed base at the end of the console's lifecycle simply won't permit it imo.
