Mostly a lack of stuff to do and a crippling lack of job opportunity, even in the minimum wage sector (though the fact that i keep going back to college and losing the jobs i get doesn't help)

Why do you keep losing your jobs?

College is a clean 300 miles from home, so i can't very well keep them. Most of my jobs have been rather marginal anyway

Sounds rough.  Does that mean you commute to college but your jobs are around home?  Sorry to pry.  It's just interesting getting to know the VGChartz members a little better I think.  I worked my way through college instead of relying on student loans.  It was tough, but worth it in the end.

No problem, but yeah, it's just go, come back for Thanksgiving, Spring Break, Christmas, and Summer, and only one of those is long enough to get anything, and then you've gotta compete with the people who live there long term

Gotcha.

My state is ran by complete nitwits. I'm not going into detail because otherwise this would turn into a massive wall of text. But I'll just mention I am from South Carolina....

hey, i have been there several times!

...and i see your point

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

If you don't like it, you don't have to try to change it.  You can just vote with your feet by moving.  That's what I did.

Drugdealers everywhere, the occasional gunshot in the middle of the night, several prostitutes per block once it's past 10 pm, vomit on the sidewalk, human shit on the sidewalk, angry bums that scream at me for not giving them money, bums wanking off to porno mags under their blankets at about noon, witnessing break-ins that I have to report while I'm trying to walk home from work, listening to drunken fistfights outside my window when the bars let out at 2:00 am, same solar system as darthdevidem01

So were do you live ? Just want to know so I know which place never to visit. Shitting on streets, wanking of in public, witnessing regular break-ins. I would definetly leave that place.

It's like this in any downtown city I've been to, but San Francisco happens to be the homeless capital of America.

It's not only the worst ghetto in San Francisco, but it's really small and somehow right between many of the great tourist attractions.  I can walk to at least a dozen free museums and art galleries, Chinatown, Japantown, Union Square, or the Moscone Center (home to the Game Developer's Conference and Apple's press events).  I'm in the middle of the city so it's easy to get around, and the rent is cheap.  Just a single bus or half hour walk can get me to the Wharf for our world famous crabs and clam chowder, the Mission for our world famous burritos, the Castro for our world famous gay bars, Haight-Ashbury for our world famous hippie burnouts, the Golden Gate Bridge, or Golden Gate Park (which is bigger than Central Park booyah).

Anyway, I feel a lot safer since I moved here from Oakland, which just got promoted from the 3rd most dangerous city in America to the 5th!  When I was there somebody actually did a drive-by on my neighbor and killed him, and I was on a block that was all small families with kids.  By day they'd all play in the street, and at nigh they'd all hide inside from the gangs.  Here it's more wacky colorful bums and prostitutes than actual danger.  If I see a shadowy figure in the middle of the night, it's okay, because there are several prostitutes, bums, drunk locals, and drunk tourists all over the place.  If I saw a shadowy figure in the middle of the night in my old neighborhood in Oakland, I'd probably run.

It's in the middle of nowhere but not in the middle of nowhere enough.

here in the U.S? o i don't know maybe just the bad politic's.

wht im trying to say is politic's (everywhere in the world) gets in the way of progress and the said part is that people actualy fall for it like sheep.

The town that I live in is very underrated, the only problem is the lack of a good town centre, however we have the likes of Portsmouth, Fareham, and Southampton. We have one bad estate (it is in demolition now) and the rest of my town's estates are very pristine. It is home to one of the best schools in my area as well.
