Forums - Sales Discussion - MOVE and KINECT Sell-Through update!

As big and diversified as Sony is, I am surprised they only announce shipped numbers, while their smaller competitors somehow find the staff to report on sell through data. Is this a deliberate move on Sony's part in order to hide the real data? Do they prefer to only release shipped leaving the sell through for their financial statements? Or are they just so big and bureaucratic that the sell through data takes longer to filter through the appropriate channels before being publicly announced?

I agree, Move is harder to estimate and get the numbers on. The PSeye has been around since 2007 and sales of just the PSeye alone cannot be calculated as a Move sell.

I think VGChartz is getting it right by corroborating with others on the average number of Move controllers and using the average in the calculation for total Move units sold.

To please Sony users, VGChartz could have done 4 separate estimates: 1. Estimate for 1 Move controller. 2. Estimate for 2 Move controllers, 3. Estimate for 3 Move controllers, and 4. Estimate for 4 Move controllers.

Then again, when you have the average corroborated by other independent sources, then the aforementioned is kinda pointless.

Can this console war get any more competitive?

Sony won't be around for the PS5, MS will have them backrupt by then. Then SEGA will have it's chance to reclaim it's rightful place in the industry, yay

LOL! sega is dead son SONY killed em let it go can't bring back the dead.

as for sony "DYING" HAHA good luck with that specially EMEAA and Japan ps3>>>>>>360 and 8m gap is now down to 4.

Kinda sad how we don't get solid numbers on PSmove and just a bunch of estimates while kinect is easy as ABC to track.....

Wonder how many existing PSeye owners out there just bought  PSmove plus the NEW users who bought the bundle.

You mean sony has made no grounds on the 360? I could be wrong but i believe at the time of the ps3 launch the 360 was only 4-5 million ahead not 8

5.2m ahead to be exact or was it 5.3...pretty sure its not lower than 5m when ps3 launched.

It has been 4 years with the Xbox 360 in the lead over the PS3 and it looks like it'll at least push 5 if not quite getting there minimum.

Tease.

Largely irrelevant considering that MS has been profitable in the G&E division for what, three years straight now? They're finally making money at a consistent rate whereas Sony is barely cresting profitability four years into the PS3's life cycle.

If MS wanted to continue losing money (or just break even) in the division, we'd see $150/200 360 price tiers and that gap would be a hell of a lot bigger than it is right now.

But you PS3 fans can continue to live in a bubble where Sony has accomplished any of their goals with the PS3 outside of Blu-Ray coming into its own. Outside of that small shining light, the PS3 has been disastrous for Sony. They took their largest profit division and turned it into a loss leader in a few short years.

This. Also taking the significant features advantages such as Bluray, Free PSN, established franchises, I am genuinely surprised PS3 isn't owning 360 worldwide yet..
