Forums - Gaming Discussion - We all have been gamers for so long right, but where did it REALLY start?

I *think* this was the first game I ever played. I was really young so I don't remember alot. What I do remember though is that I used to love playing this game all the time with my brother.

We never got past the first level though...

I would go through the bottom and swim in the water while he went through the top. We always got killed of course..

Yo, I want to play the new Splatterhouse!

Anyways, about SMB3, how did you play it? Me I preferred to complete world 1, get the P Wing, finish world 2, get the Cloud, then jump to world 8 and use the Cloud on the annoying castle level and the P Wing on the fast flying ship.

Always made the game much easier.

Like you though my life was also destroyed by the PS1, mainly Square Soft... oh how I miss when Square and Enix were separate companies. Everything was so much better back then. Enix would make fun games with crap stories with great gameplay and Square would make great stories and great gameplay.

Now we still get some great gameplay but it is like they gave the stories to the crappy story makers from Enix.

I fluted my way to the last level.

There was that flute where you ducked on the white platform for like 10 seconds, and then the castle flute where you flew above the wall.

Damn lava levels, the tank and ship levels always gave me a hard time!

The one with the white platform was at the end of level 1-3. 1-4 also had a secret if you end the level collecting a specific number of coins I think. It made a white Toad House. The second flute was in the castle, right above the ? box with the dry bones.

World 2 had the flute that required the hammer to reach.

I love that game.

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select, start was your friend back then for 2-player Contra.

I also don't know if it was a glitch because I only did it once, but after beating the final boss and blowing up the island I restarted the game and everything was in a shade of red... could never get it to do that a second time.

If only I knew that back then...

We would've gotten to see what level 2 looked like..
