[5th Cell is] in the R&D phase [to make a 3DS game]. We have people playing around with it. The 3D camera is probably the most interesting thing that’s the least talked about.”

Augmented Reality games are coming....

augmented reality games are already here...

shush anything sony does not exist hence eyepet and start the party and those tech demo's never happened

In planet earth, Symbian enabled Nokia phones already had many augmented reality apps and games as early as 2004.

I don't know how's Sony related to this, despite the fact that they brought the known augmented tech to a platform they own.

Of course it is far far cooler.  I'm pretty sure almost everyone will admit this when the sales explode.  Heck, DS is cooler than any of the other current generation consoles.

You're right, it is much cooler. Until you grow hair on your nuts. Then you pass it off to the closest 6-year old or lose it in the couch somewhere.

They sell because they are desired by millions of children with parents who buy them for them. They sell because they are cheap and disposable. If you lose one, you can just go buy another. Most people aren't willing to do that with a home console.

Sales don't make it cooler. The game Peg has sold more units worldwide than ANY video game console has. It MUST be cooler. Go play that for a while.

Ya, it was somewhat obvious that you meant that, but sometimes the obvious is missed.

You fail for assuming that the system has only one audience, and ignoring that too many games not meant for children sell big numbers on it. You think a 6 year old wants Brain Age?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I realize that the system has more than one audience. I own a DS myself. The fact is that 85 % of sales are to children age 14 and below. Trust me on this, I worked in advertising for a LONG time. I know exactly who the DS is marketed to.

In all honesty its a VERY good marketing strategy anyway. Market a cheap reliable handheld gaming console to children with games that will appeal to them. Its a win/win strategy, but like I said it also makes it blatantly obvious who the system is marketed to.

Last time I tried to explain this I got banned, which is sad. I'm not bashing the DS, I'm giving legitimate information and praising the DS for its success because of it. Some people REALLY don't like it when you state the obvious for some reason.

And to your last sentence. No, I don't think a 6-year old wants Brain Age. But how many adults do you think want Nintendogs?

Do you have proof of this? Because if I remember correctly the number top 4 age groups include 2 groups of 30s (Male and Female) and 2 groups of what you described. For someone who worked in advertisement....you sure fail at metrics.

So do you really think that PS2 hasn't been selling to kids with the 99$ pricetag?

Even if it is, its a dying technology. Even at $99, sales won't continue forever, regardless of who they try and market it to. Sales are already starting to look abysmal now.

You mean selling 900k sold on Black Friday weekend slowing down? You mean selling number 1 for months? You mean continue to sell in Japan despite it already passed the old market saturation point? Sales are already starting to look abysmal seriously? Seriously?

Edit: Actually my bad, you were talking about the ps2, which is a different story....since it is 4 years passed since the ps3...so you can't talk about it that way.

Edit 2: I still want to know how you got your 85% data?
