American English, however variants of British English used by India, Australia and all the rest of the British former colonies and protectorate is the most predominate. In short the important part is to learn a variant of English and adapt the to local environment when necessary.

Indian English is no more a variant of British English than American English is.

Of course not, however since the US population is 5 times the population of the UK clearly "American" English is used more frequently so I assumed the OPs question was of a bit broader nature than that.

I wouldn't assume that if I were you. It seems to me equally likely that the OP just posted a really dumb question.

english is the 2nd most spoken language in world, but i prefer the yank version of english, its more manly, the brit english sound gay, heck its kinda gay, even james bond sound gay.

In all honesty I would say American English is used more.  Does it really matter, not so much.

I taught English for over 5 years and I found my students got way too hung up on which was more popular, which one they should learn, which was more correct or 'better'.  If you achieve English profiency and fluency and with an accent anything like ANY native speaker you will be doing very well.

I  am from Australia but my family immigrated from the UK and speak Oxford English my parents use to correct me if I used Americanisms  as a consequence I speak Oxford English. and on a funny side note I allso have no Australian acccent because of this so most Australians believe I am not from Australia. I also have dual Nationality

sadly its probably american english...but being the only native british english speaker in my class i can say that chicks really dig british accents...

Do you currently live in the UK, or currently in another country?

in Finland.

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

I think I use the American spellings for the most part. I had English teachers from different parts of the world, my accent is definitely not similar to a British accent.

Point being, even though I never lived anywhere near the US I somehow got influenced enough to use something closer to their English.

I think it's British English. After all, it is correct, not some bastardised version circulated by lazy yanks.

Kidding (mostly).

I genuinely think British English is used more, though. As in, everywhere outside America uses it, whereas America is very large and tends to think its the centre (notice the spelling!) of the universe, but only Americans actually use it...

LOL...I love a good hard knock at American culture.

While we may believe we are the centre of the universe, do keep in mine we are not without a good sense of humour. Colourful no?
