Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Lost Odyssey in America. Hit or miss or just ok

I think it will review better than BD and be better (hopefully right on both) and I'm almost certain it will sell better than that here.

Also, I really like the art style of this game, fantastic. Hopefully this ends up the first great next gen JRPG.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It also depends on how much advertising it gets. I dont think Blue Dragon got any advertising in America. I dont know if it did but I didnt see any. Can anyone confirm?

I don't think it did either, but I also don't think this will get much advertising.

If Microsoft really send out ads on this game the week before its release and after its release. Lost Odyssey will sell extremely well.

One of the reasons why Blue Dragon failed was because of the fact Microsoft didn't ad that game good.

First week: 130k
Lifetime: >500k

It should do well. An RPG that mimics final fantasy on a console where people buy games in the bunches I say it should do well. Hopefully it can get decent reviews.

It should out sell Blue Dragon. This style of JRPG seems to be more popular here than the Blue Dragon style of JRPG. Also you are right, as far as I know Blue Dragon received no television ads. MS dropped the ball on Blue Dragon in the U.S. If they want break the perception that the PS3 is the machine to get for RPGs, they may want actually inform the general public of their major RPG releases.

Both style of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssy are very acceptable for Asian gamers. (We all grew up watching Dragon Ball)

I think for our regions Lost Odyssy unfortunately will only do slight better then Blue Dragon due to expanded user base.

Saying that, 360 are still the most selling RPG games console out of the 3.

I think what y-Koron wrote here http://www.vgchartz.com/news/news.php?id=709 really compliments my perpective on recent Japanese gaming market, especially towards JRPGs.

I think it will do ok, it will probably make back the budget and then some, but probably not something like Mass Effect or Assasin's Creed level.

I fear most of you are way to optimistic.
USA 130.000-380.000
EUR 150.000-350.000
JAP 170.000-290.000
And in this special case i think you overestimate ads too.The RPG-community knows even without one ad exactly what's coming out.And the RPG genre itself is too complex, that advertising for it could get a new & more diversified audience. At least for JRPGs.
