I'm going to go alittle against the grain and say F1-2010. The game might not be perfect but I haven't played a game this much in a long time!!

I am gonna vote for Dragon Quest IX. It's a great game, it deserve to be game of the year.
I haven't played Mass Effect 2 as of yet, but I'd say its a close race between Donkey Kong Country Returns and Red Dead Redemption/Undead Nightmare. I think I'll go with Donkey Kong.
I'm also ashamed that 9 people voted that joke that is Final Fantasy XIII...normally I adore FF games, but this is not that. There was nothing particularly good about it! broken combat system, poor story, boring cha....okay, I'll stop. I just really hate Final Fantasy XIII.
So Donkey Kong Country Returns it is! Beautiful graphics and art design, almost perfect controls (don't like shaking the controller), and some of the best level design I've ever seen in a game on any platform. I played the shit outta that game, beating it in a week, and turning around to get 100% soon thereafter. Didn't do mirror mode, that's something for later.

I would have to say DC Universe Online. They are taking a step in the right direction porting MMO's to consoles. If they could just figure out a better way to communicate globally it would be awesome.
Mass Effect 2. It was a brilliant hybrid between a third person shooter and an RPG.
I would say Red Dead Redemption, although I also liked FF13 a million times more than I expected to.

I'm legitimately curious....why?

I'm not even sure really. Maybe my tastes have just changed over the years or something. I didn't expect to like it at all, because I didn't like any of the other FF games since 6, but it was engaging, fun, and nice-looking. 2010 didn't wow me that much overall, so the fact that FF13 was even in the running for GOTY is more because it was an underwhelming year than because it was a truly legendary game, but it was a beautiful game that was easy to put down and pick up and I had a good time playing it.
