Forums - Sony Discussion - Gran Turismo 5 first impressions (from the biggest fan on Earth)

OP is much better than many reviews I've read. Good to see you're honest and fair even though you're a GT fan. WD

Parts gets detact from the car and the I think driving preformance gets afected.

I think the graphics issue is a bit overblown to be honest; I know what everyone was expecting, but it wasn't really possible to have 1,000 cars recreated in intricate detail. The main issue for me are the bland backgrounds on a few races (which are how they look in real life really) and the awkward shadows, but the time-changing effects, night time driving and especially the city courses more than make up for it.

Like others have said, damage is progressive, I didn't even get a dent in my car until about level 10 or so. Nice to hear your honest thoughts, me personally, I'd give it a 9.5 just on the whole. It's basically GT3 but with improvements all over the place. I've yet to try online, but GT for me has always been the single player experience.

A.I.

The computer is still as clunky as always. Improvements have been made noticeably, but they still don't care where you are on the track. If I stop in the middle of the racing line, they will just smash into me without restraint. They also like to ram into you from the back right after you overtake them, causing you to spin out.

As a GTG, it's very disappointing. I thought that by now, they would've improved the A.I. such that they would behave at least a little rationally. As a G, well, every racing game has clunky A.I. that doesn't notice where the player is. It's normal.

i know this is false from my experience. I did a few test stop in the middle of the lane and saw the AI go around me. If I park my car too close to the corner they will often hit me . Also the AI does make mistake which means not only do they hit my car but my driver car in B-spec as well. Most gamers want the AI to never ever touch them yet is that racing? It seems to me the AI does actually tries to race you instead of  just objects on the track. Sure it not perfect but to me it seem pretty descent.

Notice I'm referring to A spec and B -spec. In license and TGTT the AI is scripted.

jesus christ, i didn't know that it had that amount of damage.... hm, i'll review it when i'm there :P
