I bought:

Final Fantasy XIII  and UFC2010 at Gamestop for $20 for my 360.

I went to Sears, Best Buy, Meijer( a midwest Walmart ), Walmart, and Gamestop. The Kinect sensor(stand alone) was sold out at all of them. Most were sold out of the console and sensor bundles. The Move was available at all locations. Understand that where I live, the 360 is huge compared to the PS3. All of the consoles had deals with extra games thrown in. Meijer was probably the best for the PS3. They offered the 160 GB PS3, Uncharted 2 and a $50 gift card for $299. Most of the 360 bundles were for the 4GB 360 with Halo Reach for $199. The Wii bundles usually had NSMB Wii with Wii Sports and Wii Sports resort for $199. Most of the game deals were decent, but were still available at all locations. The DS was selling great, especially at Walmart($89), and the Wii was doing good as well.

Im fascinated by the idea that people all go to the store at the same time and push through crowds etc and put up with all manners of stress just to buy some cheap products.

I've lived here in the US my whole life and I don't get it either.

its because they want to get those cheap products for even cheaper.  There are some crazy sales that go on that day.

went to old navy and showed up too late to get Dance Central, they had 29 copies at that store

I went to Target first.  They had one of the better PSP deals, and while there were still some left, it appeared the area with them did have quite a few missing...which is obviously not normal.  Best Buy had some $10 games (MGS4 and not sure of others), I couldn't find a single one of these, and they guaranteed at least 6 of each.  The whole time I was at Best Buy, the Kinect sales person was explaining it to one guy...and while a lot probably did sell of both, they didn't seem to be what a lot of people were looking at.  I didn't look too hard anywhere, but if they were in stock, I saw no Move or Kinect bundles (once again, wasn't paying the most attention to that, though).  I do know, however, that the shelf that held all 3 consoles was about evenly missing for each at 6 PM, and all had quite a bit gone...this shelf (not the only plaaec in sttoe with consoles), is about 35 or 40 feet long.

Crowded parking lots hint at Black Friday sales

1 / 4

NEW YORK | Wed Nov 24, 2010 5:11pm EST

NEW YORK (Reuters) - More Americans will be out shopping this year on Black Friday -- or at least that's how it looks from outer space.

Satellite images from Remote Sensing Metrics show more cars parked outside shopping malls across the country in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, and increasingly crowded parking lots usually mean higher sales.

This year 35 percent of parking spaces have been filled since mid-September on average, compared with 31 to 32 percent the previous two years, according to the data analyzed by Thomson Reuters.

This past Saturday, the last before Black Friday, the figure had risen to 42.3 percent, compared with 36.5 percent in 2009 and 30.6 percent in 2008

"If that trend continues, it's pretty likely that we're going to see stronger traffic," said Thomson Reuters analyst Jharonne Martis-Olivo. "Inflation is flat, so we might have stronger retail sales.

Black Friday, which falls on November 26 this year, is a key date for retailers, representing the traditional post-Thanksgiving kickoff to the holiday shopping season.

Retailers from Macy's Inc to Best Buy Co Inc try to lure shoppers through "door-buster" discounts, but some prices could be higher this year on items like groceries and luxury goods, Martis-Olivo said.

That should prevent a year like 2008, when traffic was high on Black Friday but sales in dollar terms declined as the worst financial crisis in decades drove retailers to slash prices.

The Thomson Reuters data echo estimates from the National Retail Federation, which said that nearly 60 million Americans plan to hit the stores over the weekend, while an additional 78 million might join the crowds of shoppers. The total number of possible shoppers is 4 million more than forecast last year.

Total retail same-store sales for the fourth quarter, which includes the holiday season, are expected to rise by 1.5 percent this year, up from an 0.6 percent increase in 2009, according to Thomson Reuters data.

By sector, some of the strongest same-store sales are predicted for discount chains, up 2 percent; footwear at 2.7 percent; jewelry at 3.5 percent; and home furnishings at 4.2 percent.

The NRF has forecast a 2.3 percent increase in sales this year for the November-December period, up from 0.4 percent for the same period in 2009.

The Thomson Reuters analysis was based on more than 500 satellite observations of car counts from Remote Sensing Metrics.

All I know is Black Friday proved once again people clearly have money to spend despite this terrible recession.
