Forums - General Discussion - Any guitar players?...musicians in general on VGchartz?

Just curious if anyone here plays any instruments? What kinds of style and instruments you play...Any bands, tunes, clips you could share? etc

I am a guitar player myself. Played in a crapload of bands but am currently just jamming alone or with a few buddies for fun. Guitars I preffer are ESP/LTD and Agile...7 string if possible.

As far as playing style...mostly metal and hard rock. Actually pretty much 99% metal to be honest. One of the reasons I don't play with bands anymore is because I couldn't hook up with people willing to play heavy music and play it well. It was always crap musicians starting a metal band or good musicians playing "hard rock"...and sounding like Creed in hopes to get signed.

Influences include Fear Factory, Megadeth, Children of Bodom, Metallica, Guns n roses...etc.

Here are a few guitar covers I recorded last week with the Windows 7 phone:

I play guitar, bass, and keyboards, and I'm learning drums. Right now I'm learning Vivaldi's Spring.

I like just about any genera though. Just not country.

I think we once had a mod here that made a lot of music. But I'm probably mistaken

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I play bass. Badly.

I play piano. Mostly mellow type music from video games. Particulary the Final Fantasy series. I also dabble in R&B and classical from time to time.

I'm a musician. I'd consider myself more of a song writer then player though. Seems like, for what ever reason, you're either one or the other most of the time. I can write entire songs from start to finish with vocal melodies, but I can't really play for shit outside of your basic chords. I have friends who can play Buckethead stuff, but they can't create vocal melodies for shit. It's weird.

Anywho..glad to see there are other musicians here.

I took violin in school.

Any how, now I'm teaching myself guitar. It's not that hard, actually. I've come along in 3 days.

Damn...thats impressive. I wish I had the time to learn all kinds of instruments. I personally believe I'd be an amazing drummer. I have great sense of timing and rhythm and I love a good groove more than anything.

Plus I'm pretty badass in rockband on drums :)

hah, thats so true .  Its best to have a little of both worlds.

I personally am more on the side of your friend when it comes to musical approach. I preffer to work with drummer and bass player to write the song parts, fix arangements...and then put vocals and melodies in to the song. For metal this is usually the best approach... But most other types of music revolve around the vocals so melodies and vocal lines are much more improtant than musical trickery

I play the good ole electric guitar. I'd say I'm at a pretty intermediate level, but that's only because I haven't sat down to learn anything new. Instead I've just pieced together songs I already was learning, just going back to the part where I quit playing lol. Like you, I'm 99% metal. Metallica, Megadeth, etc.
