Report: New Gran Turismo 5 patch announced to improve performance

Gran Turismo 5 launched around the world yesterday. I’ll let that news sink in…

Has your head exploded yet? No? Good, because here’s another piece of great news that owners (and potential owners) of the realistic racing simulator will want to know about: The latest patch (which is set to add a variety of improvements) for the game has been announced by none other than Polyphony Digital head, Kazunori Yamauchi.

The announced release date for the latest Gran Turismo 5 update is December 1st, and will apparently improve the game’s performance to smooth out framerate dips during racing, while adding a damage model to the game’s Arcade mode (which can be unlocked at Level 20).

In addition, an update to Gran Turismo 5 will make its way to gamers on November 27th to improve the online performance of the game.

-------------------------

so nov 21st online patch and dec1st performance patch?

"On 1 Sony and Polyphony Digital in December published a new patch for Gran Turismo 5, which activates the damage model for the Arcade mode of GT5 for PlayStation 3, as series creator Kazunori Yamauchi in an interview with our sister magazine Games Aktuell confirmed. The physical damage modeling in GT5 is released from currently Level 20. In addition, the Gran Turismo 5 Patch physical damage such as problems with the front axle, which can roll the vehicle to the right or left, bring. Even the players had after installing the patch, the GT5-way engine damage or total one-issue, respectively.

"Regarding the shade looks more parlous state representation will not change with the patch. According to Yamauchi's can be connected to the engine via an update to change anything. The update but at least reduce the frame rate dips and improve overall performance. The upcoming Gran Turismo 5 patch is said to not be the only one that Polyphony Digital plans to release by Christmas. What changes bring more updates with you is still pending.

5yrs and it ain't perfect? tsk, tsk.

Awesome though.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

It's just ridiculous that they still need to patch anything singleplayer after 5 years

So if I get it, it will be around this time next year or so when Sony releases a version of the game that works much better (I'm thinking even more patches are coming).

they will upgrade and add new stuff, fakin A!

I figured sony rusehed their ass to save their xmas 2010 sales after their other games were delayed to 2011.  This kinda proves it.

though damn it im only level 13, L20 is still a long way of in the distance.

Nice.

You gotta be pretty damn nitpicky to bitch about the framerate as it is. I honestly would rather see reduced loading times on menus but this is cool too.

Add damage to Arcade mode? There already is damage, at least in 2 player mode, I saw some pretty heavy dents in our cars when we were tearing it up last night. Granted, the damage isn't actually any good and seems more like a gimmick that anything else, to be honest.

Considering how much I suck at sims, I was hoping the damage wouldn't affect performance because that would kill the game for me.

Wtf i've already downloaded this patch ? O_o , i've got the Signature edition and its 113 MB and the load times are faster than the ones i've seen online , also there is minimal damage in arcade mode.

did it release for UK versions early?

PS : i've got the game (and the Sly Collection) about 4 hours ago, love it! , sue me! >:(

According to what most members are commenting over at GTPlanet, this probably means that it will unlock mechanical damage for Arcade mode as well (the same damage that starts to appear after you reach lvl 20 in GT Life mode).

This is not new for GT, GT5:P went through two spec revisions. Spec II added almost 30 cars and tweaked some of the online interfaces and Spec III introduced some improvements to the physics and made the game a bit harder.
