GT5 got a 8.5 T_T

The problem isn't 8.5 score... that's fine if the comments were in line with the score... but the reviewer said many times about "best sim game ever", "best driving phisics evers", "best racing graphics", and, in the end, gave a 8.5.

Makes no sense for me.

Exactly.

I agree they're pretty biased sometimes, and inconsistent in their reviews. Then again, that applies to like 99% of 'professional' videogame-related websites and magazines these days, so what else is new?

Can't say I really trust them but that goes for every reviewer out there. I occasionally read reviews to get some basic information about a game but I would never ever let the reviews decide what game I should buy or not buy.

i loved igns reviews to each their own i suppose.

I stopped trusting reviews altogether years ago. It's usually just some dude giving their opinion.....I can do that on my own.

do i have to explain every time, or don't you guys even bother reading the very first line in the OP ?

It's just that you are talking only about GT5.

We all know it. Stop lying to yourself.

Man...stop pretending you know PullusPardus.

Next time, try not to spam a thread with the same message over and over again. You don't even know what you're talking about.

Stop lying to yourself.

They just made an article saying FFXIII is 2010's biggest disappointment...Screw them!

What's funy about that is they gave the game a 8.9, or "Great".  That's one of the reasons why I don't trust IGN, anymore.  They don't stick to anything they say and just go with what's popular.  Even GT5, a game they gave an 8.5, or again "Great", is number 2 on that list.  So a game is GREAT!!, but yet it's disappointing to you?

@ OP

A lot of sites seem to be rushing out reviews, not caring about any kind of integrity, only to get a few extra hits when they have reviews in time for the game's release.  GT5 is an example of this, since according to what I have read, sites really only had it for 4-5 days before it released.  There's no way you can unlock and play 50% of this game in 4 days, let alone 90-100%.

A site I have come to really respect, as of late, is TheSixAxis.  They haven't reviewed GT5 yet, because they won't review a game till they have either beaten it (this was actually illustrated once), or in GT5's case, gone through at least 90 % of the game.  They even wrote an article about the state of reviewers on other sites.  I guess the final straw for them was seeing IGN's review of The Fight, in which IGN's reviewer made inaccurate statements, as well as not even mentioning a key feature in the game, multiplayer.  And instead of IGN admiting the horrible job that was done, they just simply edited a few lines (which still contains an inaccurate statement) in the review and just left it alone.  That kind of action makes me trust them even less.

The article, in case anyone wanted to read it: http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/11/03/editors-note-pro-reviews-failing/
