Forums - Sony Discussion - GT5 graphics aren't that impressive

The actual in-game graphics, particularly the environments are far from good looking. Feel free to disagree, but first take a look at these shots.

PS1 style trees.

Blurry textures and the strange effect on the front of the camero (motion blur related?)

Sprite grass and weeds, lack of AF, blurry textures in the distance.

Again, more blurry textures and ailising.

Maybe the PC has spoiler me, but I can hardly see what the uproar is about. Sure, the game looks great in photo and replay mode, but I'd imagine most people are purchasing the game to actually play. And when it comes to ingame, the graphics are hardly anything to write home about. The biggest fault I see is the lack of detail in the environment. It just makes everything look sterile and dead.

Welcome to 24hrs ago.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

OP, are these your personal experiences or just screenshots you've seen around on the internet?

I've been playing it for quite a few hours now, and the graphics are great.

I haven't seen it, but from what I gather, your sentiments aren't followed throughout. I'll have the game here in an hour or so, so I can judge it then. But for now, even reviews (most of them at least) haven't had too many bad things to say about the visuals.

Btw, where are the screenshots?

And mentioning the PC shows a bit of the problem right there.

Forget sentiments, just look at the facts :

IGN RATINGS FOR GRAN TURISMO 5 (PS3)

GN RATINGS FOR GRAN TURISMO 5 (PS3)

RatingDescription
out of 10 Click here for ratings guide
7.0 Presentation
A cumbersome front-end and minimal, overlong loading screens hinder it, as do a series of other strange design choices.
9.0 Graphics
It's moments of sheer beauty ultimately outweigh the uglier ones, though sadly they don't quite outnumber them.
8.0 Sound
The visuals aren't met by the audio, and the engine notes lack grunt. The less said about the soundtrack the better.
9.0 Gameplay
For all its missteps in the single player mode it's still an unrivalled driving experience - and that's where it really counts.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
There's certainly not a paucity of content, and if any future patches can help streamline the online it could have serious legs.
8.5

I've played through GT5P and I thought pretty much the same. Most of the tracks just feel empty, and there are blurry textures and shitty trees throughout. At times it can look great, but the car models received the love, and only a few tracks can match them in terms of polish. I haven't played GT5 yet, but it doesn't look like much has changed (and the reviews complain about the sound :(

You're supposed to be enjoying it instead of telling people you are and they aren't.

Better then GT5p check.

Better then its competitiors check.

Iv yet to play on half the track, ill see if some are better then others.   But right now i see liitle to complain about, then again im judging form playing the game not going out of my way to find a fault.

Huh? How could you have possibly get all that from "Welcome to 24hrs ago?"  I meant, "the fact that the graphics aren't all that has already been established, what else is new?" How could you possibly have misread such a straight forward comment?

I can honestly say the only thing I noticed about this game is the sound. All of the imported sound tracks drop about 50% in volume (even when setting race volume to 120%), so I have to turn my TV up (not like its a big deal).

Other than that the cars sound just like they all did GT4.

And as far as sound goes, theres no way to manage or even check which audio tracks you've imported off of your PS3. I just went down the list and imported all of the ones I wanted to hear while driving. Now there's no way of actually seeing or even REMOVING the ones that I've imported already. Ugh. Thats my BIGGEST complaint about this game and its not exactly a big one.

I haven't got a try online yet, but I'm having too much fun trying to get my licenses.
