And now we only have shattered dreams

the Consumer Electronics Association, which plans the conference, now says that it erroneously included Nintendo of America among companies exhibiting as part of the gaming showcase at the conference. Nintendo will take meeting rooms at the conference but won't exhibit, CEA said in a press release issued Tuesday.

Lol, whut? Isn't that what Nintendo alone makes in, like, a day or something? XD

That must be some sort of typo, too.

Not surprised, given that Nintendo World is listed as being Jan. 8-10 in Japan; the dates would overlap too much. And per Nintendo Japan's site, there will be talk of the 3DS... at least at NW.

I just thought of something. With Sony taking its PlayStation brand out of gaming and into multi-entertainment devices like the rumoured PSPad or the confirmed PSPhone. Maybe Nintendo is going to announce a new venture with Sharp, maybe a new 3D glasses free TV. Or maybe a Nintendo phone or maybe Nintendo marketing another electronic device.

Now I'm not going to put money or my reputation on Nintendo breaking out of just the gaming buisness. But I will say it is possible. Also Nintendo might be marketing the 3DS as a multi-entertainment device at CES, one for internet browsing , movie watching, listening to MP3's.

Nintendo could do alot at CES, man I'm all tingly thinking about it.

I sure as hell hope so.

Sounds better >:-|

I voted for disapintment because all I want to see is a proper epic zelda skyward sword trailer that clearly makes obvious what the heck the game is all about.

And such trailer won't be there.

Yeppers I sure as hell wouldn't mind buying a 3D TV made by Nintendo and Sharp. A cell phone with Virtual Console, hell yah. A Nintendo tablet I'd take over an I-Pad any day. Nintendo used to be a toy company and when they entered electronic entertainment they experimented with many different markets not just gaming. I think Nintendo could expand into other markets fairly easily.

But yes that is a pipe dream as Nintendo has been a gaming exclusive company for the last 25 years give or take.

3DS hype ofcourse. But the CES platform may point to some more capabilities then we are currently aware of. Perhaps nintendo is positioning the product as a handheld movie player in addition to a handheld gaming device. Maybe it has some networked fetures like netflix and hulu plus. Point being, if the 3DS is being shilled at CES, then it goes to reason that Nintendo may be adding more 'consumer electronic' features.

3DS For the win, and who voted for dissapointment?

Me. Or have you not forgotten about E3 2007, E3 2008, E3 2009, E for All 2007, and Nintendo Fall Conference 2008 and 2009?
