Forums - Gaming Discussion - Marvel VS Capcom 3 Official VGC Thread

With the Permission Granted from Machina, I present to you the Official Marvel VS Capcom 3 VGC Thread!

This is your One Stop Ultimate Guide on VGC to everything about the upcoming Ultimate 3 vs 3 Fighting Game,
Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds  is a crossover fighting game in development by Capcom. It will feature Capcom's own characters and characters from American comic book company Marvel Comics. It is the fifth installment of the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise, the eighth installment in the Vs. series, the first to be exclusive to consoles, and the second in the Vs. series to use three-dimensional graphics on a two-dimensional battle area.

The game is produced and directed by Ryota Niitsuma, who had previously worked on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, and features the same fast-paced fighting mechanics as earlier games in the series, along with new methods of play designed to make the game more accessible to new players. Capcom has promised three-on-three tag team fighting gameplay and a robust plot.

Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Platforms: PS3 and Xbox 360
Release Dates: NA = 15th Feb 2011    EU = 18th Feb 2011   JP = 17th Feb 2011
Modes: Single Player and Online/Offline Multiplayer

PLOT

Doctor Doom has assembled the greatest villains of the Marvel Universe and has joined forces with Albert Wesker in order to unite their respective universes in an effort to conquer both. However, this course of action awakens a great and powerful threat that could potentially destroy both worlds. It is up to the heroes of the Marvel and Capcom universes to put a stop to this evil before it is too late.

GENERAL GAMEPLAY INFO

The game features the same tag-based team feature as previous installments of the series, where each player chooses three characters that can be swapped at any point during a match, and utilizes an order selection called "Evolved Vs. Fighting System", a modified version of earlier systems seen in other Marvel/Capcom and Capcom vs. SNK crossover games. It is the first game in the franchise to feature three-dimensional character models as opposed to two-dimensional sprites, though gameplay remains restricted to two-dimensions, allowing characters to move only backward, forward, or straight up into the air.

NEW CONTROL SCHEME

Unlike Marvel vs. Capcom 2, which features four attack buttons separated as two pairs of low and high-strength punches and kicks, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 uses a simplified, three-button control scheme of undefined low, medium, and high attacks modeled after Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, which Capcom believes will "knock down the wall of complicated controls and open up the field of strategic fighting to all comers", as well as a new "Exchange" button used to launch opponents into the air, switch characters while performing a combo, and slam the opponent into the ground when used by certain characters. Players can use each button to string together combination attacks, as well as perform special moves using a combination of button presses and joystick movement.

As characters attack, their Special Gauge fills with energy which can be expended by the player to execute powerful Hyper Combos and Team Combos that involve multiple characters.

SIMPLE MODE AND MISSION MODE

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will feature a "Simple Mode" that allows players to perform combos and special moves easily at the expense of limiting a character's moveset.  The game also includes "Mission Mode" which features character-specific challenges geared towards helping players explore the normal control scheme and preparing them to play against other people.

SINGLE PLAYER MODE

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 features a single-player story mode that is more robust than its predecessors, with unique endings for each character.   Marvel stated that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is "all about fan service", and plan to work with Capcom to include dialogue quips and mid-match events between the company's characters that reference past Marvel Comics storylines.  Comic author Frank Tieri will be writing the storyline, dialogue, and endings for the game.

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER MODE

When an online match begins, both players can view their opponent's "License Card". "License Cards" keep track of player tendencies based on their fighting style; this is determined by five categories: stability, basic offense, basic defense, advanced offense, and advanced defense. They also record player points and total number of wins and losses, and allow players to see the positive and negative points of their play styles.

I can't wait for this game.  I'm not too sure how I feel about the simplified controls.  Hopefully they're good.

I say nobody should buy this game for 1 reason.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

Capcom failed me and many people out there with Marvel vs Capcom 2... don't get me wrong I love the general idea of Marvel vs Capcom which is a fighting game that includes fighters that are some of the most popular and loved characters Capcom and Marvel. The problem with Marvel vs Capcom is that it's a bitter-sweet game. You want to play with your favoite street fighter GREAT... he/she is probably right there or maybe atleast 1 of your favorites.. how about one of your favorite X-men... right there for you? You always been a fan of Mega-man... his right there... lets go online and play. 1rst match... you fight against Sentinal, Cable and Storm.. cool .. what AAHHHHH wtf... I can't move... what Im dead already? but but I was blocking!? Oh ok maybe I just need more practice... next match.. Sentinal Magenito and pyslock... 10 matchs later...... ok this game is broken.

So while the option of playing with your favorite characters is there... your gonna have a hard time winning against the overpowered noobs out there. Because lets face it... if you lose.... well 1st of all nobody likes to lose... but even worse.. add losing to someone who has overpowered characters is that much worse. I'm good at competitive gaming in general... FPS, Fighting... whatever...  so it's not that... the game is unbalanced period and I'd love to play with ALL! the characters and know that I CAN beat the other guy because if you pick the certain set of characters against Highest tier and the other guy knows a few good spam traps... EXPECT for atleast 1/3 of your health bar (on all of your characters) to go down because of your blocking.. YES... just block and watch your health drain faster then you can think of a way out of that mess, because if its a good spam trap... then you only have a milla-second to re-act and 1 chance every 10 seconds and if you mess up... then expect half your health drained out. It's absolutely unfair and only rewards spammers (projectile spammers and traingle air dashing spammers you name it) with wins. On top of that... these guys actually think they are good?

Long story short... Marvel vs Capcom 2 is the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 of fighting games.

Boy-cott this game or atleast wait until it's in the bargin bin so Capcom doesn't get the full price-point of your purchase. I love Marvel vs Capcom, I do.. but the way it has gone... I don't want it to go that way. I don't want MUGEN! I love it but I want it to be much more balanced, idealing as balanced as can be... atleast move an inch to try to make it balanced Capcom... MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 IS THE GAME I HATE AND LOVE THE MOST!

/end rant... I think I might make a thread about this

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.

The game's not even out yet so how can you tell if its unbalanced or not?   At least wait til its out to see if Capcom fixed this issue or not.

But my reason not to pick up this game day one is simply Capcom likes to milk everything now.  Because Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath were already decided as DLC characters who knows how many more Capcom kept aside for DLC so they can make extra money.  So im just going to wait til its all done and Capcom will release their MvC3 GOTY edition or something.  It would suck to pay full price of a game only to receive half the rosters and having to pay more for the other half later bit by bit.

I guess I didnt make my point clear enough.. basically I said.. we shouldnt buy MvC 3 because Capcom has failed us in the balance department of MvC 2.

ButYou know... your right in what you said, MvC 3 hasn't come out yet. So instead I change my stance to... everyone wait for reviews instead because MvC 2 is a mess and I don't want to support that kind of trash.

MvC 3 could be balanced, Capcom can redeem itself with MvC 3. I agree with Capcom milking but hey every successful franchise has been milked... and I'll also wait for GOTY or something like that.

Isn't C. Viper in this game?

I having issues with this game. A sequal with less characters then the last one and only 3 X-men characters, 2 of them being Wovlerine (Deadpool is his own character and he knows it). Lack of my favourite franchise and the one I read puts me off...seriously. Great game or not, no Cyclops and no Nightcrawler is just sad.

Hmm, pie.

Peoples main complaints are that some series get too many characters and others get passed over, Capcom are limiting it to two characters per game/series with some special exceptions only.  Nobody wants X-men vs Capcom.

Anyway, character page missing the DLC characters and artwork.

I know I know Shuma and Jill have yet to be updated. I just managed to finish the main roster so far before I had to leave and didn't get a chance to add the DLC characters as well as adding a Deconfirmed list. I'll do that tomorrow.
