I just tested this and it doesn't work like it does in that video so I call shenanigans.

It DOES start to steer for your going around some turns, likely to compensate for lag and it's assuming you're going to start steering there, but only for about a quarter second and then my car stops turning and careens into the fence.  It didn't do that again for the next few turns though.

However the levels are closed so you're always going to be put back on the road when the track turns that way.

I ended up 8th out of 8.
