i have been seeing some facts about Xbox , Well looks like Mexico is the 5th largest market for Xbox...

woow i allways knew Xbox was big on Mexico but 5th ?? damn... U.S cames in 1st and UK in 2nd for sure...

Well why has Xbox been so strong there ?? Even in Ps2 era there was ONE December where Xbox beat Ps2 back in time.

And its just going to get stronger from now , i can see next gen being dominated by Xbox in Americas with Nintendo Console in a long very long 2nd place.

Look at Xbox Software Sales in Americas are Ridiculous!

Because americans are easy to brainwash.

Because its an American company. Same reason Japanese buy Sony and Nintendo products but not Microsoft.

I don't know about the Americas, but here in the U.K FPS have recently become mega popular.  The 360 is seen as 'the FPS system', also online play means that if one person has a 360, there friends are more likely to purchase them.

But don't americans buy Wiis and PS3s as well?

Because, aside from the RRoD, it doesn't really do anything wrong.  It's a well rounded machine with pretty much all you really need in a console........no.  That can't be it.

pricepoint - they are used to cheap things as all things are cheap there(by cheap i mean low in price)

other competing console being way more expensive still to date

COOL and Popular - Every brand goes through this phase,other brands have already exclipsed this,Xbox is going through it.and in NA people tend to follow the trend going on

MS is a US company

marketing - MS does alot of marketing,very few people dedicatedly follow gaming or any specific thing so they tend to go for whatever they see

The XBox brand is strongest in America because its by an American company as well as a highly recognized one.

As for your prediction about next Gen I disagree completely...before this Gen the Playstation brand was very strong in America but seems to have faded because of the XBox brand. With that said while the Playstation brand slowed in America the DS and Wii brands gained huge popularity in America and just like how the 3DS has the name DS in it I expect Nintendo's next console to have the name Wii contained in it.

I personally think that the P.S brand faded here because the 360 and PS3 are so similar and the 360 is made in America so people pick the 360 over the PS3 here.

Anyway, nobody knows what next Gen has in store for all consoles though I expect Nintendo to stay fairly popular next Gen in the same way that PS2 was successful partly due to the PS1.

Part of the reason i think is because the 360 came out eairler, and it debuted a lot cheaper than PS3, and its still cheaper than PS3. the other reason is Halo, the series is quintessentially American, now the PS3 has also got some American type heros, like Nathan Drake, but the games like Gears or Halo are just a lot stronger in the US market, possibly like Rolstoppable said, as an act of patriotism.

despite the failure rate of the 360 or the amount of peripherals, like batteries, or wifi adapters and the cost of Live the US market still prefers it over the PS3. however @ the OP next gen wont be as easy for microsoft as this gen imo. partly for those reasons but also because sony will likely release at the same price or even less if they have to.

i think kinect could also be a double edged sword for microsoft further down the line.
