I was surprised that 360 was still leading in Austria as I expected it to be similar to Germany where Wii took the lead a while ago.

Incidentally, Media Control is short for "Media Control GfK International", and more commonly known simply as GfK.

@RolStoppable
i read this article on ORF.at

but i must say i stopped to read when i saw
"Sony says that ..."

next month wii might pass 360

i don't trust orf.at and text like "sony said that gfk said".
it is good for daily news -> when you are interested if and how
your neighbour got killed.

but for console news it is crap!
read the whole article - they have a link in this text "ps3 lead in japan".
they have no idea whats going on - thats why i don't trust it until
stadlbauer (austria nintendo retailer) says how much wii are really sold.

tut mir leid Rol das wir da mal nicht einer Meinung sind :)
sorry Rol that this time we don't share the same opinion :)

You should take into consideration that many, many Xbox360 units are actually sold to "street retailers" becouse Xbox360 never officially launched in countries like Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and the only way in getting Xbox360 in thouse countries is trough black market and internet stores...they buy Xbox360`s in Austria, import them in Croatia, add a MOD chip and sell it in those countries...and numbers are counted as Austria...so, no Xbox360 is not leading in Austria

It's a good point, but I seriously doubt that the Wii has been officially released in those countries either, so that kind of cancels it out. Same is true here in Asia, most countries import consoles from Hong Kong. I'd really like to see sales figures for HK, I have a feeling they'd be really high, but I've only seen sales for Korea & Taiwan.

As for not believing the figures "because Sony says". Well, that might be fair enough if it was Sony's own figures, but when he says it is from GfK, then I have to believe him. He can't just go around quoting fake GfK figures as Microsoft and Nintendo also know these figures, not to mention that GfK wouldn't be too happy either. When a Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony Executive gives out Chart-Track/Enterbrain/GfK/Media-Create/NPD then you cannot get any more legitimate than that.

Besides, PS3 did lead in Japan last month according to Enterbrain, so the article isn't wrong to say that either.

thx RolStoppable,

that was my point :)

ich hätte es nicht besser sagen können - danke
