globally the ps3 is doing fine in EMEAA and Japan, but America not so much globally the 360 is doing fine in America and the Uk, but EMEAA and Japan not so much You can claim a change in global leadership when one of them actually LEADS GLOBALLY for an entire year, like the Wii as been doing on a constant basis, instead of a couple of short burst. |
As I said, and you repeated, 360 leading in US/UK and PS3 leading in the rest of the world. That is YTD, not just this week, month, quarter, the entire year. That is not just a short burst, that is consistent. IF, and I understand this is a big if, the trend continues through the holiday I think they will continue through next year and the current relative placements will hold. This is what my point was that we may be "seeing" a change, as in it is happening now, not that it has happened. I am suggesting that this holiday may be the turning point and that next year at this time we will see exactly what you are asking for, a year ending in which the Wii is not the global leader.
I think this level of uncertainty is fun and gives us all an opportunity have some good discussions, so try not to be so defensive and maybe discuss why you think the trend will not continue if you disagree.
For my part I think the trend will continue, though the Wii may still win this holiday the margin is going to be tiny compared to years past, because at this point in past years Wii had already started pulling ahead yet we are not seeing that yet. You can point to Kinect and Move launches as well big software titles but Wii has had the red bundle and some of its big titles launch as well.
