True.  By "just"I didn't meant that was all they were doing, I meant that it was the exact same thing.  In otherwords that THEY are polling as well.

if VGC's numbers were "seriously fucked" then they would release "real" numbers or at indicate that VGCs is specifically too low their initial findings.  instead all they do is try to discredit them without any effort to correct them.

i'm really thinking that VGC is within reason and MS just doesn't want anyone to have access to real numbers.  afterall, they are trying to run an ad campain that makes kinect look like the most wanted product ever for this holiday.  Can't do that if consumers have facts to compare the marketing BS to.

I am certain they have an in house team that can give a very detailed accounting of whats going out.  So if its way the F off, why not comment on it if your them?  I am not saying VGChartz is, but thats what MS is basically saying.  

Looks like Aarron G is very upset and has told M$ that VGC is making up the numbers...  Awwww Poor Kinect is too precious and they don't want anyone touching it :(

That I don't have a problem with, but it's the way they are saying it is what bugs me

all they had to do was say something in the lines of, we do not comment on these numbers, we advice people to wait for the official release by NPD' or something....then when those numbers come out we can see if VGC are under/over tracking...I just think these statements aren't needed tbh that's all

I said I would take a wait and see, but I do come to a conclusion that our numbers are off or they wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the numbers.  To those saying they are running this big budget add campaign, yes they are.  But they aren't going to make theirselves look like a fool just to undermine it.  Other than people like us who are interested in numbers the every day public has no idea what VGChartz is or what it does.  So even if the numbers are 100% on track the average Joe would still have little to no idea that it wasn't the sales beast MS says it is.  Meaning MS has no reason to diss our numbers other than them being off.

Personally I don't care if the numbers are off 600k or more, I agree with you it would have been better for MS to STFU.  But VGChartz should be happy, any press is good press if you ask me.  I would bet they get more traffic now than even before.  

Why would it matter anyway,  wouldnt the numbers they release be shipped to retailers?

I personally think VGChartz is fairly accurate, and it doesn't matter if they are off as long as they make a good logical effort.  And why do you care if Microsoft makes a mistake ("look like a fool")?
