There is even more Kinect sensors for mark up prices on Ebay today than there was yesterday. I start to wonder if half of those who bought Kinect only did so to sell on Ebay. Some of the pics on Ebay shows stacks of Kinect ready for sell to those who are impatience to buy them at regular price.

Things like this happens on every big console launch and it wouldn't work if the demand wasn't high.

Is it working with the number of kinect on E-bay growing every day?

It's working if the price on ebay it's higher than the one in the stores, beside a lot of the ebay auctions are actually preorders.

Give it a rest guys, this thig it's selling like hot cakes right now, and I'm from Europe, I suppose in the US the demand is a lot higher. It probably is undertracked on vgchartz, we'll see when official data came out.

Checked yesterday my town's MediaWorld at ~8:00PM. On the shelves, there were 31 Kinects, ~25 360 plus Kinect bundles, 5 PS Move Starter Kits, ~40 stand-alone PS Moves, ~10 stand-alone PS Eye, ~10 PS nunchucks, ~20 PS3 in various disk sizes and bundles and ~10 each of Black (the old one, not the new with MKWii), Red and White Wii bundles. Only for White Wii bundle there was a special offer to get it for 49€ (or 59€, I can't rememeber precisely) giving back some used games (they must belong to a special list, not any game will do).

So it looks like nothing is sold out, but even after some weeks, PS Move Starter Kit sells quite well, with its shelf space almost empty at the end of the day.

In the Kinect demo area there were two Southern Americans trying it, and they had some troubles navigating the start screen, during the two minutes I watched them, they couldn't start any demo game.

During the ~15 min I stayed there, nobody bought any console or controller, only a little girl asked her dad for a red Wii (I wonder if she liked Mario or just the colour), but he answered her "later".

In most of the online shops the stand alone version and the 4GB bundle are sold out and there is very little stock for the 256GB bundle. So it's safe to assume it's a pratical sell out (they are shipping a lot). This hasn't happened for move in any country. Move had a modest sell through for the period of the year we are in. So I don't understand why do you keep comparing apples with oranges, we are speaking about sales and this is much bigger than move although you can say excpectations were high. Let's wait until official data before unleashing the damage control measures, we all know it may be a fad but right now kinect seems to be the hot topic.

Anecdotally, my Target has had the same Kinect/Xbox360 hardware bundle chilling on an endcap for the last 4 days, and they're all out of Kinect hardware.

We never saw people trying to sell Move on Ebay. The fact that Kinect is being sold on EBay means that the demand really is high. Come Black Friday the people on EBay with Kinect units will be making profit on their units.

That make sense because there were a lot of Move shipped out, larger than Kinect shipment. The fact a lot of people knew Kinect would be hot at first cause thousands of them appearing on E-bay. Thus some of the demand is sololy to resell them on E-bay.  The demand is high enough to cause Kinect to sale out in some locations. No doubt when some people starting to see few left on the shelf in their area they buys them out just to sell on E-bay. As far as Black Friday anything and everything on sale will sell out.

At least Walmart seem to try to combat people buying Kinect just to sale them on E-bay by offering Kinect with 1-2 games. Of course they could still buy them and sell each separate on E-bay .

They have to be a lot of dumb people out there buying Kinects on E-bay for marked up price when you can buy it on Wal-mart web site with 1-2 games at the same price. They must assume that because they are on E-bay for marked up prices that they can't buy Kinect at regular price.

Now I do agree there is a demand for Kinect but not high enough I have to buy it on E-bay.

Maybe I should have written it explicitly and clearer, I am referring to early situation (3 days after EU launch when I visited the shop) in Italy, not USA: when I wrote, mods were locking other threads about Kinect selling out or not and this one was the only one avaialble not referring explicitly to USA in the title. BTW here Kinect and 4GB bundle are in stock at online stores too. But sales are still slow for EVERY console here.

Kinect sales seem to continue to grow in the US.  Best buy continues to go in and out of stock online, stand alones have been sold out for days and 250 GB and 4 gb models are now selling out online.

Amazon says they will have more stock in on the 17th, so that could be a good indicator of demand.  If Amazon sells out again after the 17th it would suggest that demand is increasing after initail sales and a massive black friday is in the works.

What makes you think Sony shipped more Move than MS did Kinect? MS shipped a fuckload of Kinect units, probably more than Sony shipped out Move units.

I just checked eBay, and there are a few bundles having reached crazy offers, but the vast majority of overpriced offers are either "Buy it now" or with zero bids, and it's already possible to find both bundles and stand-alone Kinects under their list prices.

Edit: just checked better, the crazy priced ones haven't reached those prices through offers, they are either "Buy it now" or zero bids too, some sellers are just asking for those prices (just crazy, greedy, excessively optimistic or astroturfers trying to create hype with a frankly naïve and easily unmaskable method?).

On ebay you can search for ended listings and that is a lot more meaningful because people usually snipes ebay auctions.

For example you have here a sensor ended yesterday at $176:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-Kinect-Sensor-with-Kinect-Adventures-/170566027858?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item27b6870a52

and here a $443 250GB bundle:

http://cgi.ebay.com/BNIB-Microsoft-Xbox-360-250GB-Console-with-Kinect-/140478146437?pt=Video_Games&hash=item20b5266785

Now the funny thing about ebay is that prices quckly levels between them, because for this kind of product ebay behave very close to an ideal market (perfect competition). So you can assume that that is the quotation for these items on ebay. Is higher that the store price and this confirm that the item is selling out almost everywhere.

On a side note you people are largely overextimating this ebay speculation thing, because the number of the kinect sold on ebay is under 5000 for the US site. That is very little compared to the shipped quantity.
