Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto makes first comments about Mario 3DS!

Jesus Christ when did people start to dislike 3d Mario so much?

1. It doesn't take all that long to make a 2d Mario game, he said one is on the way so what's the problem here?

2. Mario Galaxy sold 9 million, that is a bold success anyway you look at it. If we were to go by system selling logic that would make like 70% of first party games failures.

3. Last time I checked they are some of the most acclaimed games of all time, by critics and fans.

End of rant.

"And for the first time ever Mario will be on a handheld system with an analog stick for controls. That's new."

So what? That commentary was dumb and pointless. And despite of 2D Mario much bigger sucess, Myamoto seems to be still hypnotized at making 3D Mario (another one! I wonder when they will release Super Mario Galaxy 3, oh boy!)

yeah, why not. I'd love a third Galaxy.

And by the way, do you seriously consider games that sell less than 10 million copies not worth making? Because, you know, there would not be many games on the market that way.

They didn't sell Wiis, so yes they are a fail for a first party company.

They made a lot of money, which is kind of the point for any company :P

Besides, I bet if you took away all the "non-moving" games from any console, it would actually have sold much, much less. It may not have caused spikes but these games keep interest and add value nonetheless.

And, again, 9 million copies. How much money they made? And they used the engine for both games so the dev cost and time wasn't that high when added up.

They fund and make lots of games which clearly have no promise of creating those spikes in sales. If they considered that a flop, they wouldn't even try to begin with, so clearly they disagree with you.

No Sunshine rehashing please. Let's make a new game, preferably one with new and outside-of-the-box ideas.

I've been predicting a Mario Sunshine handheld edition for ages.

Just you wait.

I think you're enjoying the tropical climate over here too much *sly look*, I would love to see the setting of Super Mario Sunshine come back, but they gotta do something out of the box gameplay-wise...

I am! Though I could do with less rain. *sly look back*.

Are you proposing a Super Mario Sunshine 2?? In 3D?! I'd love that, haha.

If it's remade using the Galaxy engine, I'd be all for it.   Throwback Galaxy was one of my favorites in Galaxy 2.

I wonder if, with the actual tecnology, is it possible to create a good augmented reality 3D platform....it would be cool to create your own levels, using real-life objects and enviroments, instead of editors.

Now most of these are amateur demos, I wonder what a big development studio could with that.
