I noticed no-one was playing in the news. As it has been almost 3-4 days since there was some news added, so I decided to add some simple news that I didnt take too aweful much time doing but hey, some news is better than NO NEWS. *glares at everyone*

So there you have it, look at the new news, favorite it, dig it, bash it. Hate it.

I rekon there is no news because it is easter, most people are relazing, but there has been some new, the 360 keyboard controller and a gears of war update.

The ranking system that currently controls what stories go on the main page sucks.  (Sorry for the 'harsh' language, but it definitely is not working as intended.)  I complained about this a few days ago and never got a response.  (shrugs)  I just won't be posting any new news until it's fixed.

What's wrong?

With the current ranking system, stories will only show up on the main page after getting a certain number of votes.  I don't think most visitors know that they need to click the 'See the latest news stories submitted' link to see them.  As such, for the casual visitor it looks like this site has no new news.

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

Yup, I agree. One solution would be to have a "most popular news" & "most recent news" list of headlines on the main page. This is a general problem that seems to apply to everything - anything shown on the main page gets so much more attention/hits than something off it... and if things shown are popularity based, then the same things will also stay there.

(another alternative is to show the most recently viewed/edited news on the main page - just like the forum threads).

I agree with Steve. Something has to be done about the way in which news items are displayed on the main page. Maybe an additional news section on the main page that shows the Latest News items?

The main problem with the news is that it's often content ripped 1:1 from other websites who have to pay their writers while vgcharts is cashing in on it through (modest) advertising. When I noticed there hadn't been news for a while I figured they have just been locked down as I think they should... Sorry, no offence.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

I think the problem is the old system that was used to keep the news fresh... is gone, and a new system came in, and it's broke.

Basically news is dead untill that is fixed, as the news on the front page has not changed in almost a week.

Oh, and I still can't vote for news in Safari (digging works). Not that anyone cared...?

The new News format sucks.

Popular News and Breaking News?

Please change it.
