Forums - Sales Discussion - Yow vgchartz, start fixing yo sales numbers..

We over at Gametrailers are laughing at the discrepency in sales.
Compared with the latest official statements made by Microsoft and Sony honcho's your figures just lost all credibility....

Around the Network

shipped =/= sold

I cant say much more to help you.

Time to Work !

lol....Gametrailers forum...

 Offtopic -

First of all, our forum over here, may not be popular as GT, but the community here is waaay better...compared to the unbearable amount of trolling and fanboyism at GT, N4G, etc.

Laugh at us all you want.

On topic -

Companies report shipped numbers, not sold numbers. I guess the PS3s and 360s that Sony and MS shipped are sold instantly when they hit retailers.

Or they have an amazing tracking system that gives them real time data on how many consoles were sold.

If the sales numbers in the financial reports are sold, and not shipped, then people like NPD, Chart-track, GFK, Enterbrain, Media Crate, and even Vgchartz don't need to exist.

Shipped =/= Sold

Yo gametrailers, get Geoff Keighly a new suit. We over here at VGC are laughing. With the latest E3, he lost all style.

Seriously though why is there so much hate against VGC? If you think you can do a better job, feel free to creat a website and make a living out of it. See, you can't.

The Neogaf hate spreads around. People see Neogaf as an elitist forum, so when people read a universal opinion on that site, they take it as a fact and run with it and spread it onto other sites. I've seen it done before, a Neogaf rumour would say something like 'I heard Halo: Reach is going to have 64 player online', then an hour later, Kotaku would have an article up referencing that thread page as if it was a reputable source. Then other forums start talking about Halos 64 player online matches until Bungie comes along and denies it.

The difference is that VGChartz doesn't really have anyone to separate the facts from the lies. Some people seem to think that all our numbers are guessed by ioi from his small smelly basement in Iowa.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

GT are just all pissy that VGC got the GOD of all analysts to contribute to a Kinect/Move debate, when they thought they had total dibbs on the Pach-meister.

Sell in - the number of units sold by a company to retail = what companies report.

Sell through - the number of units sold by retail to consumers = what VGChartz reports.

It really isn't that difficult.

come on, you know it is!

I don't know how many times I had to repeat this.
But that is the beauty of VGC. Here you have a community who actually can read financial reports and debate in a mature and entertaining way. Only forum I know with the same skills is NeoGaf. Kiddys at GT, N4G just can't. Revenue / profit / shipped / sold / sold through / currency gets all mixed up there.

Ok. But some games had no EMEAA sales reported here and others the gap between Sell in and through is so big or Sell through > Sell in (that's impossible).

Maybe some adjustments are necessary.
