Forums - Gaming Discussion - What company will the gaming world be better without?

Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo?

Should Sony go because they are using a gaming machine to push blue-ray?

Should Microsoft go because you have to pay for online to get the full features of your game?

Should Nintendo go because they are not pushing HD graphics like the other two?

Please give thoughtful post with goo reasons why gaming would be better without them,(I'm speaking of this generation like how would gaming be better if there was no Wii or no360 or no PS3) and please none of that, This company sucks! stuff ok.

Thank You ahead of time for you post!

PS3, its price potentially sets a bad trend, which we can see coming in MS's move to introduce the Elite, this can only alienate more potential buyers in the long run and contract the market, what's next?  Will next gen systems cost $1000?

In addition its focus on multimedia rather than games  is unfortunate, blu-ray isn't needed at the moment and yet they fell the need to push it down the throats of the consumers, better to have used that money on attracting more devlopers to the system and having a great lineup on a $400 machine instead of a mediocre lineup on a $600 machine

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Easy one, Sony.

They are giving both consumer and developers an unneccesary hard time (due to high price of the console and production costs).

@Avinash_Tyagi

I agree because the price is the only reason I bought a 360 over a PS3 HD-DVD and Blue-Ray are great but I don't want either one right now, so not paying 200 extra dollars sounded real good to me.

Microsoft should stay. Theyve shown what a true online service should be about. or at least i think they did a good job with it.

Nintendo had broaden the market with its easy to access wii.

Sony should go. alacrist said it perfectly

Wii ID: 3598-1817-7961-3393. PM me if you want an add

If it wasnt for MGS4, the PS3 is unnecessary

So i am the first who says microsoft... reason for that is that i believe their idea of gaming is a different one than mine, and even worse is that gaming is probably only a gimmick for them because they want access to the living room.

but for me it is no problem that the x360 exists, as long as the wii sells enough units to ensure a good third party support.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

Nintendo should go. Althouhg they provide innovation, in my opinion it is similar to a £180 Eye Toy, if offers innovation, but people will get tired of it. Sony should stay for producing brilliant games, how could we live without God of War. Microsoft can stay because they have revolutionised the online part of gaming, although in the future Sony will show them how to perfect it.

add me

hard for me to actualy say:

  1. I don't like Sonys 600 USD policy, so for that they could go but
  2. I don't want microsoft to get the same status in the gaiming market as in the OS market...

So I think I have to say Microsoft, but I think if I had to make a choice all 3 would still be in the market, I like competition.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Microsoft should go ,they dont belong here .

They have agreements with Intel ,Nvidia ,Ati ,they provide the OS for computers ,they have created the tools to develop (XNA ) for Windows Vista and X360 ,they also own the graphics libraries as DirectX and were rumored as wanting to buy OpenGL .All this coupled with a PS2-like succes could lead to real MONOPOLY ,and not the predominant position of SOny that some like to confound to monopoly .they could block or charge extra costs to the entry of companies in the sector or make difficult for others (nintendo ) to stay .

Plus ,the paying online is a very bad trend and they are trying to impose it over PC users with the Windows Live thing .
