Forums - Microsoft Discussion - People Already Lining Up For Kinect, But They're Not Crazy!

Microsoft's controller-free add-on for the Xbox 360 officially doesn't launch until November 4, but some clearly passionate Kinect fans are already lining up in New York City for its midnight launch. Crazy? Not really and here's why.

Microsoft is giving the first 3,000 people who line up and buy Kinect at the official launch party $150 USD worth of stuff—the cost of the camera add-on itself. If you're one of the 3,000 who queue up for the Toys R Us midnight launch in Times Square, you'll get a free copy of Kinect Sports, Kinect Joy Ride and a one year Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Kinect already comes with Kinect Adventures, so people fortunate/patient enough to get in on the Times Square midnight launch deal will have plenty to play.

Those guys you see above, snapped in line earlier today by Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg, will have first crack at the thing. If you can tolerate this kind of line-sitting and want free Kinect stuff, we'd recommend making plans sooner than later.

I really hope they are that interested in kinect, or ebay.

They honestly don't seem like the kind of people that would be interested in KINECT.

I agree

But think about it....they get $150 worth of stuff free

Now they might be smart businessmen predicting Kinect will be sold out

They could be making a ton of profit for themselves....and the place they are lined up in seems pretty cool...it has bar's and restaurants.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Ebay obviously.   They'd have to be 12 year old kids to want the kinect line up, or they must really like free stuff.

EDIT: This post has been moderated. -d1

Wow, is this stereotyping at its worst?  What does a Kinect owner look like ?  You know what pre-judice is ?  It's often thought of as being racist.. but many people who are not racist  are often guilty of Pre-judice which means to PRE-JUDGE someone which is typically by looks..

By your assesment maybe we need to start looking at people who look like they 'need' Kinect or Move - possibly the very young, the very old and out of shape, maybe someone who O.D'd on fudge brownies so they have a  reason to buy such a system ?  I guess maybe guys wearing hoodies shouldn't own Move or Wii either huh?   Maybe if you have tattoo's you should or shouldnt be playing ... We need a Gamer's Bible so we can know who wants what - by the style of facial goatee they have.. or if they drive a Porche, Mustang, or Prius..

New Yorkers  are more interested in things like Kinect and Move because New Yorkers in general do a hell of alot more walking and to them this wouldnt even be a 'workout' .. I visited my sister in NY for one week and I did more casual walking in NYC in three days then I did in a couple months at home.. the people in that city are very active and strong..  most dont drive their own vehicles because its too populated and even taking a subway requires alot of walking to and thru terminals and then thru very busy streets..

Whether you're a kid going thru puberty, a third grader, a middle aged farmer, clean cut business executive, a college kid, or even a Doctor.. everyone loves all kinds of video games - people all of ages, races, and backgrounds.... A Medical Dr. I work with owns a 360 and enjoys some gaming... I think we live in an age that profiling gamers and the types of people who play what.. is pretty ridiculous..there are many - yet common - reasons to game...
