Forums - Microsoft Discussion - In New York City, Kinect advertising is very big!

Editor-in-Chief Lisa is currently out and about in the United States (is this what you call an ‘Editor-at-Large’?) on an awesome, super-secret assignment, but on her way through New York City and a brief stay in the ‘Capital of the World,’ Lisa was able to experience how ‘those Americans’ do their videogame advertising.

Along with a few pictures of the enormous Kinect advertising banners, Lisa sent through her summation of the view:

“As you can see the building is decked out in Kinect, which is launching there at midnight on the 3rd. Apparently it’s the largest Toys R Us in the world

I may be stopping by for the Midnight launch party they're having..

Giving away prizes and such, maybe I'll get lucky. :)

And that's what a MS marketing budget'll do ya!  Damn, that's enormous rofl.  Marketing in full swing now.

Seriously with the amount of advertising MS is doing for KINECT, it better sell over 1 million units FW to not be considered a flop.

It's going to sell out, so that will be considered a success for them. And this is typical for Times Square

I say it needs to be the biggest product launch ever from marketing stand point. I don't think I ever seen this massive budget for video game device.

Damn thats a huge banner...

Yes, but it is downtown new york. Notice the pepsi banner right above it is just as large. It needs to be big in order to actually attract any attention with all the competition. I think it's the fact that it's on a Toys R Us that is a bigger deal. If they can get a kinect banner on every single Toys R Us in the US it will sell like nuts.

The banner is on Toys R Us because the Times Square launch event is in Toys R Us. It wont be like that at every TRU.

Yeah, unless you've been here.. you can't understand how normal that kind of advertisement is  --  it's really not that big.
