Forums - Sales Discussion - Rock Band 3? Flop? The death of a genre?

Didn't look up any numbers, but AFAIK Rockband or Guitar Hero aren't big sellers in Europe.

Still bad though.

I checked out the Keyboard last night, almost bought it, but there's just to many other games on the horizon for me to buy (PS3). But it's on my 'to buy' list.

Rock Band Beatles and Green Day could and should have been DLC, same with all the shit Guitar Hero has been pumping out.

RB3 does have slightly more 'realistic' instruments (at a high cost) but people have just had enough of the genre for now.

Guitar Hero used to do alright, nothing compared to the US though.  They kind of screwed up with Rock Band though, first game was about 6 months late, even later for the PS2 and Wii.  Then the second game was a 360 exclusive for a while, and the Wii version got released even later again.  Rock Band 1/2 PS3/PS2/Wii weren't tracked, but besides those the best selling SKU did 350k (RB1 360 & Beatles Wii)

The Beatles required major $$$$$$ so there was no way license it for DLC.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

@shorty  it doesnt make sense when you have to also pluck down money because they added instruments. so you would have to buy a bundle and online is something that could be easily patched, as for songs maybe people dont want 83 new songs, maybe they just want a few and could give a damn about the rest and these games are yearly not every two years. I wish they were every two years it would give the games a chance to breath

What? People don't want to buy the same game three times? Astounding.

COD has taught them nothing then or me.

I'm happy it flopped.

Devs need to actually work their asses out instead of releasing the same shit year after year with minor improvements.

every ones waiting for air guitar hero the kinetic version

For those already declaring flop, 100k pre-orders in america isn't too bad. That's just the 360 version.

Warriors of Rock flopped. Activision went nuts creating hero games, we all know that. This is the 3rd iteration of Rock Band and the first in 2 years (beside track-packish games). Many features were added which people had been asking for, as well as adding the ability to play real instruments. This will be a million seller for sure, so how is it a flop?
