Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii on ebay?

I just wanna point out, that for some odd reason the price of Wii's on ebay have gone from 290 (1 month ago) to almost 400$ now.

Looking at that, this makes me think the supply has vanished, or the demand has gone up that much more in the last month. Also the quaninty has vanished from E-bay, there just arent as many as there were a month ago. Higher prices, and fewer on E-bay. I would think the only explanation is fewer units coming to america.

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

From what some Europeans say they had some extra large shipments recently... maybe Nintendo's trying to offset the PS3 launch there somewhat? :o

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

The price on ebay could be pretty easily manipulated as could the stock. Perhaps they just stopped listing 10 at a time each as it makes it look like they're selling to the untrained eye. Also a lot of people have surely given up camping out so to speak so they may not all be 100% sure if it's readily available just yet as most news points to the fact that it is not.

Etc etc there's a lot of things that could be a factor.. or hell a little bit of all of it.

That is my thought. But the price on e-bay almost confirms it. Supply is down. (why else wouldnt there be as many for sale)

Demand can be higher, the same, or even lower. As if shipments went down, or were non-existant... people who have been wanting one for a long time, could be willing to pay ALOT more than their worth... that is with the same demand as last month. Or, the demand can be higher. You cant tell the demand tho.

I say that, because, if more units were coming to america, I would think there would be...

A. more units on ebay.
B. lower price on ebay.

If demand exceeds supply, supply will do everything to meet demand. (they will sell as many Wii as they can on e-bay for a high price)
If supply exceeds demand, the  number of people selling will go down, so there will be less supply, but the price will also go down.

Why I say, only thing I can think of is lower supply.

people willing to pay $400 for a wii = demand still high.

flyers for several stores advertising Wii consoles, often with a "5 per store minimum" disclaimer = units still coming in.

 theory disproved.

I think more people want the Wii so they are selling out even faster and it may be that much harder for scalpers to get them.

Nintendo may have sent extra to Europe, but I think they still sold plenty in the US. We'll just have to wait for the March data to come in.

Also people may be getting tired of not being able to find them so they are just paying the extra price on eBay to get their Wii now.
