hum

but what will be the use for apple to purchase Sony ...

ipad/iphone/ipod is all they need !

iBravia TV's, iXBR TV's, iRay movies, iStation, iPSN, iPSEye, iMove, iEyeToy, ixPlosion audio... the possibilities are endless. :)

Apple can already make these things without Sony. Apple doesn't want to get into TVs and most of this other stuff because it is such a low margin business which is contrary to their business model.

THIS

Appel doesnt need Sony !

Why am I the only one who zeroed in on the Adobe mention in that list? To me that strengthens their position more than any of the others. It would give them a pretty tight grip on online content.

Except that Adobe hates Apple right now. The biggest problem I see Adobe is that much of the business is PC/Windows based.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

Well it is the way to kill Flash finally.. but to spend so much money to achieve that... >_>

Die Flash Die!!!

Kill flash and you only make Silverlight stronger playing into Microsofts hands. Flash and Silverlight probably only have about 5 good years left in them anyway. Only Apple with its walled garden is trying to excelerate the inevitable.

There is also a rumour about MS buying Adobe.

Apple makes huge profits from tiny market shares (apart from ipod).

I find it hard to see how Sony can fit into the Steve Jobs business model and I agree with whoever said the Japanese government will probably block this.

Kaufman Bros. it seems.

I could see them picking up Adobe systems.  But I don't see that being super lucrative for Apple.  Sony would be a lucrative acquisition, but they'd have to shell out some serious dough (Sony posted $72 billion in revenue FY2010), and I don't think Sony's investors would dig.

Disney is posting some pretty good numbers too, but I see them as being the most likely.  They could definitely use the cash infusion that Apple could give them given the production costs of animated films being a limit as to how much they can put out in a given year.

Facebook really has no reason to sell out unless Marky Mark is just tired of making a crap ton of money.

Except they already have a very loyal Apple base, and they could get them to buy TVs etc, especially if they had integrated Apple TV so they could compete more directly with the recent Sony google TVs

Buying Sony would be a way for Apple to make their consumers buy more products from them, which means more money and everyone likes more money
