Forums - Sales Discussion - Rumor: Apple to make huge acquisition, possibly Sony

I fucking hate the people still claiming Apple is so much more expensive.

Anyway , It would be a misstep for Apple. More than half the shit Sony has , isn't useful for Apple.             And if they buy it , which I doubt , they won't change to much. Only inject a lot of money , and change they way they work behind the screens. It would be more interesting if Apple bought Adobe. Which I doubt because Adobe and Apple aren't biggest buddy's. But that could be a reason for Apple to buy them.

When I bought my Philips mp3 player, I checked if I could find an iPod with at least a small display for less than 50€, but within that price there were only pink iPod Shuffles, that BTW have no display.

Anyway you would have been right in a quite recent past: the first, PowerPC based, Mac Mini was more powerful both in CPU and GPU, and less expensive too, than any good quality mini PC. But as time went by, Apple didn't update its specs, first letting its entry level with less RAM and obsolete optical drive, then, when Macs switched to Intel CPUs, fitting on Minis also Intel on board GPUs, the crappiest in the world, while the first PPC Mini had the fastest on board GPU of its times. And at the same time the price grew, making the Mini not the cheapest and best mini PC in the world anymore.

Really? That would be pretty big. I read that Apple has like $50 billion to spend, how much would it cost to buy 51% of Sony's shares? Anybody out there knows?

$17.26 billion at Sony's current share price.

For just the games division? Or the whole pack O_o

The entire company.

This is likely 100% bullshit. If anything, Apple will release their own console to compete on the videogame market (besides handheld gaming) and it will sell oodles due to all the mindless Apple drones out there. It won't even need to be a good console or have any good games, as long as there's a fruit with a piece taken out of it and a sleek plastic cover people will go crazy for them.

They sort of already are/have. The iPad almost counts as one given the selection of more serious games on it.

Tease.
