For me, it takes me back to X-COM.

OT: Enjoy it, man. This is one of the best games in the entire generation, IMO. There's only 3 games I'd put ahead of it, 2 being PS3 exclusives (and Japanese games too), and one being a Wii game.

I just couldn't into VC and just ended up selling it.

Something about complicated games with complicated control schemes and long tutorials just bother me.  I roamed around it's confusing huge menu and played a few levels and just couldn't stand any more.  I just hate large barriers of entry to games.

Sad too because I've heard it was a good game, oh well.

im a 360 only owner this gen so far, but last week i bought valkiria cronicles lol its gona be the first game i play on my new ps3 (still waitng for a price cut before buying  ) lol

I see where you're coming from but Valkyria's complicationocitacity (I just made that word up.  Next year this time, everybody will be using it!) is really just smoke and mirrors.  The battles are really just "rock/paper/scissors".  All of the relationships, leveling up, customization, and equipment upgrading are either mildly helpful or extremely linear.  It sure makes you feel like you've made some drastic decisions but in the end, it holds your hand a lot.

Can't fault you for feeling overwhelmed, though.  They do pile a lot on you in the beginning.

I approve this topic. Bought it for 10 pounds, enjoyed every penny of it. 

I think you should be in for a good time.

In relation to comparisons, the game reminded me a bit of Jagged Alliance 2 and Civilization, but the art style and gameplay was superior to both.

I think this will be PS3's sleeper hit like PS2's Ico/Shadow of the Colossus and I can see and that we will end up with a re-mastered version for PS4 :)

On the issue of complaints, the only thing that I can disapprove of so far, is the grading system. Basically the game rewards you only for being fast, rather than using a good strategy/taking care of your staff. I would have liked to see other variables factored in. The way I see it, the game seems to push you for scout rushes, at least in the early chapters.

It is awesome. It took me 35 hours to beat the game first time. Then I played again.

Thenm, I played once more to get A on all missions.

I just have 2 more to go.

i have a sealed copy on my shelf waiting for a week off work just to set my mind in this game... have high hopes for this game!

I bought this game because of this site and everyone saying how great a game it was, I did not think I would like it because I am not a SRPG fan, loved all the FF games except Tactics :P

Yeah, I played like 3 hours and quit - also blaming it on the sheer amount of awesome games that came out this year (and soon to come out)

Seriously, had like a week with Reach then FFXIV came out then Fallout: NV, and now on Tuesday SW2 and Fable3..

And I know there are some more games in a couple weeks as well (AC3, CoD:BO)

Yep know the feeling - also got FIFA 11 at the same time as a gift, but I am trying to carve the time for VC anyways.
